Should I go for an associates degree /biz?
I already have a part time job making 55 grand a year, but I was thinking of getting 2 years in computer science to maybe be a programmer part time for extra money.
Is this a good plan or should I not waste my money? Trying to save for a down payment on a house at the moment.

Associate degrees are extremely cheap with a high payoff relative to money expended. Do it.

I would probably concentrate on whatever that is.
you're going to make way less than that programming.

It's working for my dads company. I work 8-2 every weekday. I will own it one day but that won't be for another 20 or so years most likely.
I figured programming could be a fun sidejob or a way I could do small jobs online for extra cash wthout quitting my current job.

If you already have a degree you don't have to get another one. Just learn it on the side.
If you don't then sure, it's good to have structure.

I say no.
Unless there is some direct improvement or job opening that specifically requires that degree, why waste your time and money?
op i'm thinking of doing an associates degree in mechanical engineering technology
I don't know if its a meme degree

Okay what does your dad's company do? If you're going to inherit the business learn something that will actually bring value to the business.

pest control

seems like you have a decent amount of free time on your hands then. Use that time to help grow your dads and your hopefully your future business now.

Then you're throwing money and time down the hole. If you want to go to school learn something useful for the business like accounting
Associates in programming is worth it. Combine that with good programming skills/languages, have a nice portfolio, and have good social/interview skills, you can find great paying programming jobs.
