Why does transporting myself from A to B have to take up a huge percentage of my net pay?
Car cost
Insurance
License
Driving tuition
Tax
I'm 23 and don't even have a license is there a cheaer way to do this?

Do what a UN intern did, live in a tent near the office.

Get a CBT and a 125cc moped. Which is the cheapest possible option. Dunno what the American equivalent is.

>Get a job where you can live near by cheap.
>Move near by in walking distance.

Take the bus. I did it for 5 years, because the cost of having a car would have eaten up 50% of my income. It sucked, but this nigga did what he had to do.
i did 12 miles a day getting to work and back.
It's pretty crazy, I agree.
You're paying for convenience. So if you can make-due with public transit or car sharing you usually get off way cheaper. Getting your license is rather expensive, but it's a one-time expense. I haven't owned a car in 8 years, but I still don't regret getting it. It's handy to have. I agree with the motorcycle recommendation above. It's probably the best trade-off in terms of cost vs convenience. Can't transport anything big and a way higher mortality, but you're usually faster than traffic and can park anywhere. I own a 125cc scooter, it's pretty nice for city traffic.

Not to mention all those fixed penalty notices for parking your stupid arse on double yellows.
Get up really early and walk to work. If you live in a dodgy part of town, consider taking a baseball bat with you.
