What's a good book for a beginner who wants to get into investing? I've read Investing for Dummies. I was thinking of either starting the Intelligent investor or One up on wall street. Any recommendations?

I'm also a beginner and I'm currently following financial programming tutorials.
I'm a bit stubborn about investing books, because I suspect they won't teach me that much.
I also learn a lot faster just doing it. So learning trial and error is how I'm doing it atm.
Reading investopedia and writing some code, next year I have more time. Then I will probably start to write my own algoritm.

Chinese Lit for Discipline.

Chart Pattern encyclopedia is always handy.

The Intelligent investor is a good read, even though it barely brings in any return.

A Random Walk Down Wall Street is a MUST read. Books by Donald Trump if you want to know how to act and invest face-to-face. Soros' Alchemy of Finance is really good. And look for books from Hedge Fund Managers who brought in HUGE returns, like the chinese guy who is up 2000% this year.

Chinese Lit is the shit for Discipline and self-control. The book of five rings, Art of War, and Musashi are my personal favorites.

History is pretty good to know as well, read about Different Leaders, "Specialize" in one society. - I personally am Fascinated with the Chinese. Their leaders were so insane, smart and achieved so much.

Other than that, there's always the Market Luck needed, and connections if you want to Insider Trade.

Also, learn patterns. Not TA, TA is a Scam. Learn WHY <X> reacting that way to <Y>, etc.

history is EVERYTHING when it comes to investing. Every single company right now can be compared 99% to some other company's situation in the past. Tesla to other Innovative companies, Apple/MSOFT to other Past-Monopolies, and so on.
