Why aren't luxury books a thing?
Bound them in leather and make them look fancy. Whatever is inside caters to richfags, sjws and hipsters.
Once the ball is rolling make a series of limited books that are gold plated and encrusted in diamonds, each with a free IPhone.

The reason why they arent more popular is that books are not status symbols anymore.

Plenty of "art" books already are. It's not strange to see them $200-1000 for one volume. But you can't show off books unless you have a nice house to put them in, and friends you can let in your house.
They are a thing.
And they are a decent investment too, especially the photography ones.
