Begin brainstorming. Make it a point to focus on "what can I do" for a bit each day, as little as 30 minutes a day dedicated to it. This includes thinking about and coming up with various ideas, and light/quick research to see if you're on to something

Focus on -
A. "what is a problem people have that has no real solution yet"

B. "what problems have solutions, but include a large gap between them" ie there is something that has a high end/expensive option, and a bottom of the barrel low cost option, but no nice middle ground

C. "What problems have solutions, but has not had revolution in a long time" ie humans poop, we've had bathrooms/toilets/toilet paper for ages now as our solution, but today, 2016 we're all still wiping our ass, looking @ the shit covered paper, reaching down and accidentally getting it on our hands, etc.

D. "What are problems that have solutions, that people use/do/work with regularly?" ie the iphone gave us the current standard of mobile phones. This was a solution, but is so vastly many others have jumped into the ring since then, and we now have dozens of smartphone brands/companies and hundreds/thousands of products. The other phones dont solve the direct problem (needing mobile phones) but the masses love having options for how -they- want to solve it
