BTC will come down around holidays as retailers liquidate BTC purchases instantly.

ETH volume will switch to WAVES since ETH is a mess and WAVES has more use than any 10 shits around it on the market cap chart.

Ultimately economic uncertainty into summer of 17 will cause the trend back to BTC. (And likely ATH.)

>>
>>1629594

Segwit needs to be on the blockchain first and that happens when 95% of the miners upgrade to it but some mining companies aren't complying with it and want an alternative option. If segwit gets added, the lightning network can be deployed.

My biggest problem with segwit right now is that Wikileak's insurance files on the blockchain can be erased. Although its a conspiracy theory, it does have the potential to remove a lot of history on the blockchain and seeing how its an uneditable ledger, that fucks with me morally but this will make me money.

I'm gonna be running some live broadcasting of crypto trading and will be taking questions and just generally wanna pal around with you guys. This is going to be a rocky start because I've never done anything like this before so just keep that in mind.

I would actually advice buying Decent (DCT) on liqui.io. The site has finished dumping its token with 25% bonus, now it is rise only until the launch :^)
>>
>>1630793
>Decent (DCT)

How is it any better than LBRY?

I'm weary of coins like this.
>>
>>1630814
Okay so here I'm not talking about the tech, I am talking about speculation.
Speculation: LBRY still a lot of new lbry credit mined, I think it is 460 per block it is not decreasing really fast, so expect a sell pressure for quite some times. And DCT on liqui is an IOU so no sell pressure, low supply (a bit more than 10 btc), and growing hype until launch.
For the tech:
LBRY: Really good team, consistent, not good in marketing but developing a great product.
DCT: A lot of marketing so I guess the tech will not be as good as LBRY but we will see, they have the capital
>>
alright i have question /biz/

I mined bitcoins as a joke 5-6 years ago and i had 1.5 bitcoins.
That was on my old PC and it's been formated 5-6 times till then and inactive for ages.

Is there a way i can recover my wallet ?
>>
>>1626688
as in laptop easy? or just a vanilla desktop easy?
>>
>>1630554
YouTube is good.
>>
>>1630819

Well I'm betting DCT will follow the current ICO cycle which is once its released on markets, it'll stay around ICO price, dump, and then make a slow rise. Golem, ICN, Waves, and a couple of others.

The 2014 ICO fad is gone where you just x10 your investment once it hits exchanges. The last significant ICO to make a good profit on market release was LISK and no other significant coin has really done it since.

It's possible. The upside is much higher though.

Waves is at 30 cents roughly.

ETH is at $10

Both have around 100,000,000 million coins issued.

It takes a miracle to get ETH to $20 at this point. Not too much to get Waves to a $1. ETH has no tricks left in the bag. No exchanges to get added to. Nothing.

It's never too late anon. There will always be another opportunity, it might be in a month, a year or 5 years, but it's cyclical. The skill you've learnt (when to buy in / exit) is what's valuable, not the asset itself. Next time you perceive the opportunity you won't hesitate, you'll buy in at the right time, and exit for a profit.

Yes, you are. You settle with one coin that's not going to moon anyway instead of picking out a few coins that have a solid base and a stable development cylce, hence sell the news. I never lose money because I'm not a greedy amateur who puts 100% of his portfolio in hope that it becomes the second BTC or ETH. I can already see you're that impatient type of idiot that hopes he will get rich at one go. Good look but it won't happen.

lmao spoken like a true loser. Keep getting those 1% monthly gains, you'll sure enjoy your money when you are 90. Do you think people like Soros or Trump won their money by playing it safe? You're a double nigger and you'll never be rich.
I am not impatient at all. I know WAVES will moon with 100% certainty, therefore I keep buying them and accumulating them until that day arrives. People like you "selling the news" are the types that cannot see the big picture, that cannot prepare for when shit really goes down, always letting the market dictate their flow instead of foreseeing the market flows before they happen.
>Ask anyone around here.. they'll all laugh at you for having put 100% into Waves.

Surge is a bit exaggerated.. but probably not because BTC is still too volatile. Future BTC updates will be crucial for the price.

This is how to detect a bagholder: As soon as their coin starts falling into the red, they start looking for analogies like the BTC or ETH rise.

I've had this countless of times with LTC, DGC, ETC, XMR etc etc..

Waves is irreversibly done.

All these coins take turns pumping.

Buying anything significantly in the green is pretty dumb. (Except BTC long term)

Crypto newfag here, is technical analysis a meme?
Been working on a scalping bot for almost a month now and tried some dozen indicators and strategies, all of which have proven completely unreliable.
For development sake I run simulations on historical data, and the best I've managed is to minimize losses with a macd/rsi/ichimoku combo.
Nothing I've tried so far has been even remotely profitable.
I'm getting desperate here, on the point of just giving up. Please help
>>
WAVES is making me anxious because I went almost all-in at ~50k.
I could buy the dip but I have no idea where it's going from here.
The exchange is coming in January, right?

With bitcoin being increasingly demanding to mine, how exactly do you guys "get in" ?
I doubt many of you have crazy chinese warehouse tier rigs set up, so did you get in early?
Just buy a load of coins as cheap as possible?
Mine other altcoins then convert to BTC when their value increases a little?

So what're you clowns mining/what have you mined?

The most succesful coin I've mined by far was pascalcoin, back before GPU mining began, profitted about .045 BTC from that. Then I moved on to XMG, then to XMR, then to ZEC, and now I'm selling hashes with nicehash. Gonna move on from that as soon as my next payout, not sure what I'll mine next.

I really wouldn't buy ZEC right now because most people here just end up bagholders. Wait for a decent supply starts coming out. ZEC's is only priced at where's it at because of such low supply but most people here will get fucked.

I think I've found a functional formula.
After trying all kinds of convoluted strategies I opted for something simpler, so I tested a simple mean reverse triggered by ADX and volume spikes.
Compared to everything I've tried previously it's remarkably consistent, tho the pair needs to be somewhat volatile for it to be profitable.
Been testing it in a simulated environment, and it's consistently making between 10% to 15% of investment within ~6 hours.
Doesn't mean it will work irl tho, will find that out when I iron out the bugs.

It's really just a slightly modified mean reversal. You could do pretty much the same thing manually by drawing a long SMA and eyeballing it.
And for all I know my simulations could be somehow flawed, it might not make any money on the real market.
I'll find out in a few hours, just fired it up on polo to see what it does.

And every time the altcoin is a sham

We see an eerie light
And if the mood is right
Then you just might sight a monster pump

Oh the altcoin is here
It's our frightening task
To face our fears losing
And the altcoin in the mask

Just want to post my thoughts on BTC versus ETH

For bitcoin to gain any real value other than being a safe haven for money, it'll need a function but it doesn't have any other than being a uneditable ledger. For segwit or any upgrade to happen, 95% (or 90% I forget which one) of miners will have to agree on which upgrade. When the fuck has 95% of a group that big ever agree on one thing before? It's a seriously rare occurrence.

Why I think Ethereum will win is because of the impending apocalypse which is happening sooner or later. The mark of the beast is widely speculated as being the RFID chips. They are designed to hold all personal identification and all your money. Blockchains are going to be used as the platform for the chips because its just the perfect tool for it. Now why Ethereum may become the blockchain used for the RFID chips is because of smart contracts and the Ethereum team will do anything they want regardless of community outcry. The Ethereum foundation has made it clear that their product is not decentralized and they want to beat Bitcoin in any way they possibly can. Them becoming the platform for the world's currency would be a dream to them.

A simple smart contract of turning off your wallet if you commit a crime isn't far fetched at all and can easily be implemented. Hell dapps are just there to make it attractive to mainstream morons who'll fall for any buzzword because it makes them in the know and accepted. Most dapps are pretty fucking useless just as most regular apps are but they are attractive to their platform.

It may not be Ethereum in the end but they've started something evil but very fucking profitable to us traders.

Just my thoughts, if anyone has something to counter me, please post it.

I'm buying more ETH at this level. For long term.
>>
>>1646954

Yeah I may be stretching it but all the signs kind of point to it.

In the very least, if ETH doesn't become the platform for the RFID chips, blockchain technology will have a big part in it.

I am simply not good enough at programming to create bots that will execute my algorithms. That being said, I've worked a lot on the math behind the algorithms and found a few that seem promising. I have a pretty strong math background in general. As was mentioned earlier, creating complex bots that rely on common technical indicators typically results in a very safe bot that makes hovers around breaking even.

The ones that I'd like to program and try either look at EMA/MACD successive derivatives and try to predict changes in the state of the MACD for a given asset and then trade off of this. For example, analyzing a short term EMA's concavity vs. a longer term EMA of an EMA, we might construct a forecast for when a bullish crossover will occur and trade on the assumption of a spike in buy orders at that time.
