>why is the entire world in debt?
because people buy shit they can't afford
>why do people do that?
because people need places to live and buildings cost a lot
>couldn't you make buildings smaller or cheaper?
of course but then there wouldn't be room for more than one person, let alone a whole family
Is this somewhat right?

I would word the first line as "people can't afford the shit they buy"
very minor difference but hints at the underlying problem more.
in 1970 the median house price was $23,000 and the average income was $6,100. now the median house price is $190,000 and average income is $30,240.
so you used to earn 1/4 of a house ever year for working before taxes. now you get a little less than 1/6.

I watched that movie too.
CC debt yeah....
but business debt no, your borrowing money to take a risk hoping the borrowed + sweat equity has hire returns than the money your paying to rent someone elses money

>Why is the world in debt?
Because our governments have adopted fiat currencies and Keynesian economic policies.

Is there a saying more reddit than this one? I'd be hard-pressed to find a one.
