Bad mindset. You need capital first. Work on making as much money as possible and invest it properly.

You will waste more time/potential money on trying to beat the market than you couldve made working harder at work or trying to get a better job.

I got some small time bills to pay atm so while they're being paid off im also putting money away for future trading. As of current, im essentially a real noobie so im learning somethings by myself and im gonna ask my dad for some advice as he's an MTN broker. Only problem is that when I mentioned getting into trading at an earlier age he suggested things like precious metals rather than stocks and bonds.

>>1619623
Don't bother. The people who get good have a natural inclination for it; if you play a lot and you aren't naturally getting good there is only so much you can do.

Even with the money I made it hasn't been worth it for me; I was years behind socially until I reintroduced myself to society 2-3 years ago (can never really fully undo the damage 10 years of only gaming did to me, though). Education also suffered badly, and my wrists are kinda fucked.

Basically, because much of the hard hitting expenses are socialised, european workers can achieve a similar standard of living on a lower salary and if you're not that dependent on saving for retirement or giving your child a good education, you are less likely to demand more money than your need.

>7200 eur/year, kitchen crew, Cyprus

Also that is still really poor even for European standards.

Okay, but how can I get decent and market my Twitch stream so I can get donations and make an entertaining YouTube channel? I'm thinking I can make a following on a non-gaming channel, and then advertise that I'm opening a new gaming channel. Since the channels are so saturated, if I open with the gaming stuff after a entertainment or comedy channel, and then develop an online personality so that the viewers are already there and I'll release a gaming video every other day for the ad revenue while I release main channel videos once or twice a month, then focus on Twitch streaming randomly when popular games first come out.

Hope you figure it out man.

I'm a property manager and I can say it's absolutely worth it if you stick with it. There's a somewhat high barrier of entry plus you have to take renovations, labor, etc into consideration. It may be awhile before you're turning a profit. I suggest buying for cheap in low-income areas, doing the bare minimum, and renting to HUD.

advice man, I poured my life savings into a concrete grinder/polisher and a hepa vacuum. I'm having a hard time finding work. Any advice you can give on finding clients/work?

I used to play wow as much as possible, I was a waiter working until 2am most days. One night I didn't know what I was doing with my life and decided why not try to be rich. Since that day I would change little things about myself, tried to be better every day, just folding my clothes and stuff.

Started a business in 08 with my dad and it was a nightmare. Started with lots of debt and after 4 years I just gave up. I said I would move away from my family and just get a good job.

Moved away met my wife who was a better person than I but I guess she saw something in me. She taught me to be better with money. At one point I was working until like 8pm and she was at home with our first kid she was crying because it was rough on her. She said just start a business again. (A little more to that conversation)

So I did and it was fucked again. Made 19k my first year. Just ended the year with debt. Got a job in the winter just to catch up. After that winter things picked up and here I am a few years later.

Aight cool man, how did you set pricing? Do you call your competition and try to be in the same ballpark? Any advice on getting helpers at first when you don't have enough work to fully hire them?
>>
>>1625424

I know a guy that waits tables in a high end restaurant in Hawaii. He said the servers can make 50k a year.
>>
>>1625964

I started a few businesses myself. It wasn't until my 3rd business that I found something that worked.

Thank God all 3 were low cost to start businesses.

I wish I could get into the higher revenue contracting like paving, etc...

I was shocked when I found out how much brick and stone masons can make.
>>
>>1625973

Just figure your costs out and divide by hours. You can call other companies but you need to understand how they arrive at that number.

Go to Home Depot. Some of those laborers standing out there have some skills. When you find a good one keep his number. I had a guy who also did gardening on the side.
>>
>>1625981
Go work for a paving company. Then start doing little patches. You can build an empire from that.
>>
>>1625970
Lol what? How do you make money out of that?
>>
>>1625973

I'll help the other anon out.

> how did you set pricing?
After being in the game for a little while you figure out what the other guys charge. You can also search online. Or call a competitor and pretend to be a customer.

> Any advice on getting helpers at first when you don't have enough work to fully hire them?
Just get any random guy that has a social security number. Have them fill out a 1099. Pay them an hourly rate either in cash or by check. Then at tax time give the 1099 to your accountant and tell them the hours the guy worked.

Or just pay them under the table, cash. But then you can't write off the business expense so you'll pay more taxes.

Well I currently have a business that is pretty good. I work alone, and when I go to a site I make $70 - $100 per hour. I usually book 10 - 15 hours per week. The rest of my time is spent doing estimates, taking calls, marketing, etc...

But I keep telling myself to keep my sights open, learn other stuff. You never know when an industry can get fucked up.

but thanks man.

I feel great that I went from making $10/hr to making $100/hr, and own a business. My only regret is going to college and not becoming an entrepreneur earlier.
>>
>>1625988

Cold calling is the best thing you can do. It sucks, but it works. I set aside at least an hour a week for it even when I'm booked solid for weeks. If nothing else, it at least keeps my phone skills sharp, which in my opinion is one of the most important skills to master when you work for yourself. Never underestimate the importance of communication.

Get business cards if you don't have them already and keep them on you at all times. If you're a regular at a restaurant/gas station/small business, ask them if you can leave a stack of cards on the counter at the register. A lot of them will say yes. Give your card to anyone you talk to, whether it's for business or not. I've got a surprising amount of business by giving my card to random people I spoke to. Even if they don't need you, a friend or neighbor may mention needing some work done to them and you'll likely be the first name that pops up.

Advertise on Craigslist or any other type of free online advertising service. Shit, I'm even on Backpage and i actually get bites from it every so often.

I haven't done it since I was initially growing the business, but going door to door can be really helpful. I probably would have quit after a few months if it wasn't for the initial shit load of business I got from canvassing neighborhoods back then. It's kind of embarrassing, but if you're a good salesman it's definitely worth it.

Im sure there are other pointers I can give you. Let me know if you need anymore. And never forget that there is an unlimited amount of free resources available online that are going to do a better job of helping you grow your business than I, or anyone else here can.
>>
>>1625963
Have you considered expanding the services you offer? Instead of just polishing floors/countertops, maybe investing in the tools necessary to strip and refinish wood flooring as well? It's not cheap, but you can also make a good bit of money doing it. Or you could even offer to paint houses/lay concrete/electrical work/other odd jobs instead of just specializing in something as niche as concrete polishing. I'm just spitballing here.

What was your barrier for entry and what's the average price you charge?

If you're from the Piedmont area of North Carolina I can give you fairly steady work. It'll slow down a little until the spring but I've got a couple of project houses I'm working on and could use a hand with, plus some concrete that needs to be repaired/polished in a few of my other properties.

Go into more detail about the gourmet mushroom deal if you don't mind. I watched Documentary type thing on Netflix about groups of people that made a living in unconventional ways. They had people that hunted rare mushrooms, harvested burls from trees, collected ginseng, hunted for worms, and caught eels and it was all fascinating. I'd love to hear about your process.
>>
>>1626710
well it's sort of getting started again right now, I just moved into place where I could pursue it again. Basically, I bought mushrooms from a store and now am in the process of getting them ready to fruit. It's pretty fun and easy, they're very low maintenance, and all the farmers markets just ended here so I'm hoping to take advantage of that supply vacuum (they also grow very well outdoors in the colder months). I should be selling to local stores and restaurants soon so I'm fucking amped up about it. I'm hoping to inoculate some tree stumps and fresh fallen alder with Shiitake before December. Works well with a firewood biz because they can grow on hardwood and sawdust

My brother used to sell burls, it's ok imo.He was also pretty crafty so he'd more often then not turn them into bowls and cool little art pieces. I also know a guy who owns a logging business and he sells them in bulk when he finds a big burl log.

It works well if you do in tandem with other things that bring you to the forest like mushrooms picking, shedhorn hunting, etc.. Just basically learning to have an eye for whatever is valuable on the trip your going on.

Also the mushrooms increase in price drastically if you go inner city, chantrelles as an example are about $5 /pound wet out here in the boonies, $15-20 when you go downtown.
