Why does money feel so weird sometimes?
I remember times id lose $1000's simply because I couldn't be bothered to do shit and i didnt give a fuck or think twice about it. but sometimes ill lose a few hundred dollers playing Poker or miss out on a sale or something and get rather ticked off
Why does this happen?
Why are our brains so inclined to sweat the relatively small stuff but ignore the stuff that truly matters?
I've read that it's a matter of our brains not understanding large numbers.
No matter how hard you try, you could never properly understand just how big one million dollars is, especially when compared to, say, twenty million.
Because the brain can't comprehend those large numbers, sometimes small losses hurt more than big ones, simply because you CAN vision what $400 is, so when you lose it you know exactly what value you no longer have.
There's also an enormous emotional component to money in general so people are included to become irrational about it

losing is worse than missing out

You don't really lose money at poker. You lose the ability to gamble more. This is way more frustrating than losing money.
