Hi i am very interested in getting disability checks for depression (ssi) & i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

Theres alot of info i've looked into tonight on the internet but most of it isn't that helpful or i may have not looked hard enough.

i was wondering if anyone with experience with this can tell

1. how to get started, do i need to be diagnosed by my doctor or the social security people ?

2. how long does it take to be approved/denied

3. how much will i get per month on average ?

any advice would be appreciated

also feel free to flame me and talk shit bumps are cool. also i hate myself more than you ever will.

You're not ganna get shit for depression cause you got to prove you're unable to work simple tasks like being a Walmart greeter. Depression isn't a disability..

Your psychiatrist is going to put your on Antidepressants in combination with a therapist with CBT and get you to work simple tasks before they reward you SSI. Maybe after all that fails after a while, then maybe you can say you're unable to work.
