Is is possible to live off mining ethereum? Is anyone here doing it? I make about $50 a month with my electric bill only taking a slight hit on one RX480.
With solar panels and 3-4 PCs using several of these GPUs it's gotta be possible to make this a career, no? Or is there a catch I'm unaware of.

This might be a better question for a tech form. I always though you had to increase computational power to mind coins faster. Im not sure what you would be doing with GPUs.
>>1579986
Nah op, keep this shit alive. I am comming into some money soon and was thinking about doing it.

$50 a month?
I make that in a fucking hour, why don't you get a job instead?
I have two rigs. One with 6 rx 480's and one with 6 RX 380's. I typically get one eth every 17-19 hours. I spent a few thousand on the equipment, but I get free electricity so it's worth it. Most people doing mining are hoping it does what bitcoin does one day and not for selling it at current prices.
of course you can. you just need to invest in it heavily. my cost of living per day is only $25.
In on this, couldn't you mine other coins as well? Couldn't you mine less popular cryptos and get like 100 coins a day?

The more I see this gif the funnier it gets
>>1580275
So now its slightly funny?
>>1580277
Pretty much yea. At first it was just an old /v/ gif I forgot about
Now I chuckle when I see it posted 5 times in a row

You're missing the point retard. I do have a job making 50k a year but it's manual labor and it gets old pretty quick.
I'm just speculating whether it is worth buying more to scale up this operation.
>>1580004
Wrong. It comes purely from GPU power. CPU doesn't scale it at all unless you specifically command it to.
>>1580222
>I get free electricity
How? And how much do you think the electricity your rigs draw would cost if you were paying for it?
how long will a gpu last when its running 24/7? or do miners give them breaks? either way, how long can one typically expect a gpu to last when mining?
>Is is possible to live off mining ethereum?
The NEETery of this place never ceases to amaze. No, you cannot you naive, dumb neckbeard.

probably lives in a dorm
This thread sucks, nobody is answering any questions
I wouldn't try to do this. Cryptocoins are really new, so in a few years will mining even be a thing?
This is super short term idiot thinking.
Think longer term, build up solid investments that have proven to be able to sustain living expenses.

kys

This is the first time I've heard of this.
How does mining ethereum make money?
>>1580311
Not to be rude, but at 50k/yr the only setup you could afford would be three toasters, lmao. Good luck with your potato mining dreams. Invest the money in yourself instead; educate and work your ass off.

Are you retarded?
