Margin is just trading the broker's money and you pay a commission on each trade. It's a double edge sword but its good to learn it.

Most people say practice with a demo account but I don't subscribe to that because no one gives a fuck about play money, you actually care about your money so put in a low amount to start off with until you're ready to put in more.

On coinbase there is 0 fee for a maker order (limit order) and a .25% fee for taker order (market orders)
