Are stock options a legit way to make money or just a meme like forex or crypto?
been trading options for 1 year
to this point I've only lost money

Are you learning from your mistakes?
>>1567805
>options
>>1567811
I'd learn more by collecting fat loads of cash
these options brokers are usually after your money and ensure you will always lose. you will have a chance making money by trading the actual stocks themselves
>>1567805
you'd need to have good experience and self control a pretty fat bank roll to handle ur margins calls before buying options would actually be a viable strategy.
options can be great especially if u buy great companies at market slumps
Legit, but risky af
Do like me and aim for high dividend stocks, OP.

im up like 5% in a few months

>make money
Absolutely not
>Gain more money when you already have it
Yes
Stocks are about percentages, and plenty have bad years. If you're rich enough that 3% of your stock portfolio is akin to a good salary then yes, stocks are good for you. Otherwise it's mostly a necessary meme like a 401k.

I have a couple hundred thousand in savings. Should I invest in Nintendo now before they release Mario on iPhone and a new console?
>>1568045
I would not, as the volatility from a massive bump from Pokemon Go (which is dying) still hasn't worn off from its release 4 months ago, so the stock may be overvalued.
You may do whatever you want, however. Buy/Sell drives the market just as much as speculation and reports, and plenty may buy when Nintendo is all over the news, then the reports show gains.
Honestly, a gamble with a 5-10% chance in your favor.
>>1568053
*5-10% advantage in your favor, as in 55-60% success rate, according to some faggot winging it on the internet.
quick question since im new to stocks, what about taxability? do you have to declare you earnings from stocks etc?
>>1568054
See I'm waiting for it to go down when the pogo bubble pops completely then buy in and sell out like 3 days or so after no launchs when there is a shortage of nxs which in turn will make a lot of press when people are waiting in line for one just cause its new.
>>1568088
NX*.Not no
>>1568053
I think Pokemon Sun and Moon will have surprisingly high sales. For some reason people expect them to sell less than previous Pokemon games (because all Pokemon games sell less than the previous one), but I think the Go hype will at least partially carry over and show in numbers. I'd load on Ninty stocks before Nov 18. And then short the fuck out of it

Depends on your country, but usually yes. If you trade stocks of your own country the tax is usually automatically paid, if you trade with a foreign broker you have to declare your taxes. The other way round is possible too though. If you make losses you can usually substract them from other capital taxes
>>1568093
what happens when you dont declare lol?, is it possible for them to find out?
>>1568086
Yes, you have to declare capital gains taxes. Typically 15-25% of the gains.
>I buy stock for $1,000
>I sell stock in 4 months for $1,100
>Taxed 15-25% on the $100 gain
>Make $85 or $75 instead of $100
>Risked $1,000
Stock trading is not a method to gain wealth, but robinhood makes it easy to try some practice with real money, get used to pressure and longterm planning.
>>1568095
Most brokers and sites/apps (Robinhood) report your stocks to the IRS. It's not that they audit absolutely everyone and they'll get you that year, it's that when they ever get around to auditing you in your life, they'll have it on file.
Like the NSA, they record almost everything you say/visit but they don't know shit until they actually look into your file.
>>1567805
Yes of course, but u need experience. Practice on paper for a few months. When you are consistent, switch into small amounts of cash, then grow into more cash!
If it's true that the market is going to adjust down soon, shorting stock via options will be more useful than buying and holding.
>>1568096
Not really the same.
You can writeoff investing losses
>>1567805
Stocks require too much time and capital investment to actually make gains that can change your life style - in my opinion. If your in this to quit your 9-5 on Monday like me this is not the route for us. I find more success with the S&P mini futures, faggot's delights, and earnings plays.
The most important thing is to NOT FUCKING YOLO and like poker you need disciplined bankroll management - 5% or 10% max per trade and watch those fees and commissions.
As you build up your account make sure you take those gains out to prevent you from getting overconfident and taking on additional risk because you have the balance.
>>1567818
you have more chance of making money playing poker.
>>1567805
Yeah, they work for me. But it takes time and effort. Also never give back your profits, take that shit and invest it into actual stock. It builds pretty quick if you manage it right. I went from 2k to 30ish by managing it right.
Also use vertical spreads.
As the old joke says:
How do you make a small fortune on Wall Street?
>start with a large fortune

Its literally just like trading stocks only there is leverage
