I started off listening to /biz/ lost money.
Got mad, so I binge studied for 4 weeks, 8 - 10 hours a day. Used real money, not paper because you can't feel the pain.
Constantly watch charts like an autist until my decisions and picks were 80% or better.

I read a lot of investopedia, I used TD Ameritrade's education resources.
I did a lot of data collecting on technical analysis. I know you can read these up like..
certain patterns, but I think personal experience

I play mostly biotechs, but not data plays or anything. Its a different approach that relies on TA and at least decent fundamentals.
I have a couple of normal stocks that I go in
when I see the opportunity such as F (Ford)
when DB had that crash a few weeks ago.
The only tip I can probably offer that should help your success rate is patience for the perfect entry. I keep a watchlist where I look
through pre market and at the end of the day when I see a stock that is near support or
began a reversal I buy into it to sell the next day.

I have to agree that entry point is one one of the most important skills to have. It can really have a huge affect on overall gains/losses. If a stock never hits where you want it to be then don't buy in. There are other options.
