Fags, Wageslaves, Entrepreneurs and all others;
Was Christmas created to make money go around?
If so, or if you think so - how are you gonna benefit from it this year?

And how do these correspond to stocks?
All i can think of is investing in walmart or Kmart or something where people will flock to buy cheap decorations and gifts.

Why is buying into big sell-it-all stores now a bad idea? Serious question I'm trying to find the flaw in taking advantage of the christmas rush.

Check their reports and analyze their quarters/years
>>1546180
both consumer discretionary and staples had a rather average year so far. What could this mean? Either other sectors were hotter, or their reports were average at best. Anyway, there seem to be chances in the last quarter.
To be honest I guess at this point it's a self-fulfilling prohpecy that consumer stocks will do good in the last quarter. There are plenty enough of people with the same logic as you, and fund managers can't risk not owning a stock that did well in a quarter, so they'll probably hop on sooner or later, but still this year.
Personally I'd stay away from store stocks. Their business model is eroding due to e-commerce. Durable goods at least.
AMZN had an amazing run and they broke records week after week. There's momentum and the stock is in uncharted territory. I'd look into their quarterly results, check for EBITDA and debt, and probably buy them if the numbers check out.
Also they expand massively into cloud computing, if they keep up with the pace they can easily offset a bit of consumer pessimism.
