So is a career in finance/banking still something worth striving towards? Will automation hit it soon? Or is the golden age of business just over?

If you can pass the cfa exams do it
If you're a retard like me who can't pass lvl2 and gave up, don't get trapped in back office for life. I get bossed around by CPAs, the lowest form of life

Retail banking will always require sales advisors. Cashiers/tellers are analogous to supermarket cashier's in that their job *could* be completely replaced by automation but will probably never totally be supplanted due to conservative clients. Automats have been a thing since the 50s yet McDonalds still have counter staff. Go figure.

Blogs and forums will replace advisors just like it's replacing best buy employees

idk about banking, but the world will always need financial managers and accountants, as long the typical person is retarded.

OMG, there have been golden age for business for 500 years, since capitalism began to exist.

Automation will never be able to completely take over the finance and banking sector. Many on /biz/ will tell you that it will, but these people more than likely haven't read any textbook on finance.
