Hypothetical situation. The bubble of all bubbles that everyone seems to be talking about in our Financial system finally pops tommorow, whether it be the stock market crashing or bond market etc. What do you buy right now to hedge against this situation.
Bonus points for an explanation.
Hedging means minimizing risk in anticipation of
I would just buy everything as it's all on sale

yeah what about if the whole thing comes tumbling down? then what do you hedge with. Bitcoin, gold, bullets? What can I buy right now to diversify for the coming hypothetical happening
>>1501190
If the whole thing comes down there won't be any hedging.

Real estate if it is reasonably priced.
Not talking about shares of some realtor, no you actually buy houses and land.
The dollar could crash tomorrow and you would still have your posessions that you could rent/sell as soon as the situation normalizes.
Some will say gold has the same effect, but in truth it can fluctuate a lot. And it can be stolen. Land cannot.

The whole point of the financialization bubble popping would be that you can't just throw money around anymore and speculate on assets like real-estate.
The only way to make money would be to start a real, profitable business that actually makes products for people to use. The days of making money off of money will be over.

>makes products for people to use
If there's a major crash people don't spend. Your business tanks. A business isn't "real" or "tangible", it's the constant service to customers. Without a customer base it dies. Land does not.
Start a farm, OP. It can turn a profit like a business, you can get government subsidized if you prove yourself, people will always need food, and at the very, very least it will cut your costs by supplying you with the food you've already budgeted for.

This bubble is pretty much just limited to the banks and other financial institutions, though. They're propped up on nothing but goodwill from the Fed. The rest of the economy is fine and cost of living/ cost of doing business is going to get a lot cheaper once the speculators go under.

>What do you buy right now to hedge against this situation.
Short fucking everything.
Alternatively with less risk: Sell everything. Then you have 100% cash and tomorrow after everything crashes, you go on a buying spree.
*What* to do in a particular scenario is not a difficult question. Everyone knows what to do given a particular scenario. The big problem is the uncertainty in *which* scenario will be tomorrow's reality.

>If there's a major crash people don't spend.
If they're hungry enough and cold enough they'll start spending.
You're both right. Land, housing, production of consumer goods - they're all very similar and always in demand. If it has a use, it has a demand.

>This bubble is pretty much just limited to the banks and other financial institutions
The problem is major companies run most industries, and they're all using investments to prop up their profits. IBM, Microsoft, Home Depot, Walmart, Capital One, Monsanto, Exxon Mobile, CVS, Staples, Jet Blue, it's a cross-the-board issue.
When stocks finally fall these companies lose major assets. Layoffs will happen across the board, vastly decreasing jobs and vastly increasing the amount of qualified applicants. It will be a depression. They privatized success and socialized losses, they're not going down without a fight and they fully intend to take us down with them.

>and tomorrow after everything crashes, you go on a buying spree.
You go on a buying spree with your now valueless currency. Great plan.
>It's another "the world will go down tomorrow!!" Hypothesis
shhh... it won't

Who's talking about currency becoming valueless? This is not about global nuclear holocaust. OP is clearly talking about a market crash.
