The closest button I saw had something to do with envelopes.

Not every machine lets you do this ,I'm with Santander and needed to cash a cheque ,only atm I found that could do it was in Manchester city centre ,but I pretty much just followed the instructions on screen and inserted my cheque

Yes you need to go in to the branch. Write your account number in the box on the envelope provided and put it in the hole.

The machine will dispense and envelope. You put the money in the envelope, write the amount on it. The machine should prompt you to enter the amount you are depositing and then prompt you to place the envelope in a motorized slot that opens.

Put your card in the slot.
Put your money in the other slot.

Done.

They have people to help you in the actual branch too.
