Hi friendo. I live in a suburb of Portland. Our housing prices are skyrocketing as well. A lot of people are worried about an artificial bubble just like Seattle is.

I think the difference between Seattle and Portland is the availability of high paying jobs.

Portland has Nike. Intel. Columbia. Bonneville. A lot of strong but stagnant and fixed size organizations. Portland is mecca to Bay Area and Silicon Valley hipsters who cashed out their cush Google/Facebook related job and are buying up real estate over market value.

Our median income is kind of weak and more importantly really stagnant

Seattle on the other hand is home to Amazon and Boeing. Just for starters.

I think Portland might burst. I don't think Seattle will

Do people really rent entire homes like that? Why? Wouldnt a mortgage be more cost effective

I lived in a house like that when I was in college. I was in a punk/grunge/metal band with all my roommates. So the house was perfect for house parties meaning we had a booking even if we didn't have a booking.

Plus, Vancouver is just a much better situation for a million reasons

>People have good income but no savings/investments/assets so they have no down on a big purchase like a home.
>People have jobs here that pay well but have a shelf life and they plan on moving elsewhere
