So basically me and my friend decided to start this small size company. Basically it allows people, pubs etc to post meetups and events/concerts happening in the city. My whole idea was it should be like a traditional image board style, without the anonymous posting ofcourse. Upload your flyer or whatever, and post message
However my friends thinks having "Event name, date, venue, description" text fields is a better way.
I'm pretty sure my Idea would get more people and activity as it's much more comfortable.
While his is just "facebook pages-lite" or something. I told him it would scare people away.
Maybe I'm being too open minded, can I /biz/ opinion?
twitter?

The problem with social networks isn't making them, it's getting people to use them.
Either version of what you're describing is more inconvenient than just using Facebook, so it's unlikely it'll get any users.

Facebook doesn't allow you to connect with likeminded people and talk about events, meetups and conventions, besides isn't it now a video post spam social network?

>doesn't allow you to connect with likeminded people and talk about events, meetups and conventions
You're literally describing groups. Looking at my Facebook right now, I could join a number for the D.C. area where they do nothing but discuss local events/meetups.

This isn't really a social network, I mean it's dedicated to a niche of partying, get togethers etc. FB is bloated these days, I don't know how you did that DC event thing.
I'm sure FB is always going to be the go to place. But blindly just think of our thing as Pinterest of Occasions and Events

I can totally help you put this idea on its feet and get it going in a couple of days. Are you and your friend the girls in the gif you posted?
>>1462137
Nah it's just a gif that triggers /asp/
>>1462103
What are you talking about
Click "create group"
Name group "local coty houseparty connection" or "local group weekend warriors" etc
People post events they created
Done
This idea doesnt provide anything new and hence no value

You're committing the biggest sin of creating a website/app: you have done zero market research.
The following, off the top of my head, are (1) social networks with (2) parties/get togethers in some functionality:
- Meetup
- Yelp
- Eventbrite
- Hashmeet
- Tinder Social
- Doorkeeper
etc. Not to mention the huge wealth of specialty sites dedicated to specific cities/states.

So, like facebook already does?
eventful
eventbrite
+ shit loads more.
dont bother unless you can give it some new USP
