Create an LLC, get it registered and do start googlinf about the laws in your state about what will earn tax deductions for businesses, and run all your finances through that business. I may be able to help more if you ask me more questions

I believe you are required to pay yourself a "reasonable" wage in an llc. 500 is not reasonable for any human in an 1st world country.
