Where do I get professional references for applying to jobs and internships? I've held a couple retail jobs through college so far, but they have super high turnover rates there so I struggle to contact anyone I worked with. Can I list some of my professors if I've participated in research?
Anyone?
I'm about to be a sophomore at uni so my advice won't be that great but you should definitely list professors that youve done research with, especially if it applies to your major or career path.
Depends on the job sector I suppose, I listed my professors as referees but then I am in a research physics position so it's extremely relevent to university work.
I think most grad employers understand you don't have professional references straight out of uni and take that into account really.
Yea, you absolutely should post professors. Family friends who are well established, people you volunteer with, and maybe even your RA could work.
Nobody is going to care dude. A lot of professional people work for years and never get to use 'good' references because a lot of major companies frown on their management giving them. Unless your reference is going to give you an obvious foot up on the nepotism game just use whoever that can verify you're not a total drug addled shit bag who owns your own transportation.
