Have you ever walked right out of a job?
>in uni
>flip patties on the side
>last few weeks of summer
>next year will be difficult, and I need to look for real jobs too
>when I try to quit, boss offers to let me just work a few hours a week
>accept
>do it for a week, then he dumps 2 other people's shifts on me, effectively doubling the deal
School starts monday after next. If I find he's trying to dump shifts on me I think i'll throw the uniform over the counter and walk out.
I've worked here for 2 years. I'm so excited about the thought of doing it.
Should I go ahead?

Really business oriented there Ronald

Yes. Was sandbagged with a partner review, singled out for performance, told 90 days or gone.

Said "fuck you"...got up walked out.

Started my own competing business that day. Took clients with me. Built big business. 4 years later the partners who threw me out got thrown out.

To punish them, I called my prior firm and offered to BUY THEM OUT.

Felt good.

Yes.

At 25 I was down on my luck and needed work. I'd take anything. I got a job at $15/hr working for a cleaning company. They cleaned homes but also did other stuff like polish counter tops and floors, etc. It was like an extreme cleaning for the home. I meet the owner at a coffee shop for the interview. He's extremely chipper, one of those "everything is so great" salesmen. He tells me about the job, doesn't sound too bad physically. Then tells me the hours vary, but are usually 9am - 2/3pm. This sounds great to me because I have side hustles where I do other stuff.

Well first day on the job I worked from 9am - 6:30pm and the homeowner we were working for was a complete bitch. Then job after job would go to 6 and even 7pm. The boss totally lied to me. So about 2 months in I was on one job where me and the crew were still working at 7pm. I said fuck this, got in my car in left. I texted the boss I quit.

Started my own company 1 week later. I have stolen some of his clients. Get fucked Steve.

Many times.

Nothing quite like quitting a company run by assholes, and then crushing them like bugs.

What got me is, "how fucking short sighted can you get?". Treating employees like shit is a fast track to tanking a company.

Worked for a corporate restaurant where everyone was a lifer with no spine. One day, got like 90% on a secret shopper report so was told that I would have only a 2 table section for the next week. Told them I quit on the spot, then went to another restaurant and got hired.

When you work in something like the restaurant industry, who gives a shit? You can transfer your skills to another job sooo easily its not even funny. Why put up with the headache of a shitty job when you can just get a new one?

OP be professional and dont burn the bridges. Even if you have no benefit. It's called being a decent human being. Who knows if you ever use this 2 year job as work experience on an app they are less likely to disavow you and note you left on good terms

call your boss and say you need to move on. put in the 2 weeks or offer to work those shifts until a few days before school starts and then turn in your uniform.
>>
>>1442078
dude its fucking burger flipping no one will give a shit
>>
>>1442078
>checking references for a min wage job

this has literally never happened to me. nobody cares enough to check references at your shit tier former job.
>>
>>1442078
Seconded for not burning bridges. Just give the standard two weeks notice, then leave. Your next employer will want to know you can make a clean transition to another job.
>>
>>1442086
>this has literally never happened to me. nobody cares enough to check references at your shit tier former job.

This.

You can burn every fucking bridge and just make up fake work experience that's 5x better than what you actually had.

If they're being fucking assholes to you then fuck them back. Only reason to give a two notice is when it's a legit job that actually matters OR when you've built a good relationship with the manager and he's like a personal friend. If neither is true then fuck them
>>
>>1442053
>work at a beach club
>work gets repetitive
>walk out one day and tell boss I'm bored
>"OK. You're welcome back anytime, you were a good worker!"
>>
>>1442053
Yup I left in the middle of a graveyard shift. My crappy old job literally underpaid me and screwed my paychecks literally every other 2 weeks and I was an employee there for 2 years. Felt so liberating and good when they tried calling me but I just ignored their calls.
>>
>>1442053
No. It wasn't really a 'job' as such, because I was self-employed. I just didn't go back to doing it.

But it was pretty much dead then anyway. Socialist racists in the local council had fucked with them and their business operations so much that my job was made non-viable, even before thieves forced them to move the storage.
>>
>>1442091
I've had jobs where during the background check/application process they verified my employment by asking for my w2's for every year I've worked, they called all my past employers (the main offices, even burger flipping franchises) and checked my references

>hurr company went out of business
No problem just show us your W2 for that year

>uhh I lost it
Did you file for taxes that year?

>yea of course!
And you did not save those records anywhere?

>......

You tell me how this plays out because I would love to hear it. Fact is you can't fake a w2. Now I'm not sure if that's legal to ask for those but I have had two different (and high paying) jobs ask for them

Was a lifeguard when I was 17 years old.

The building was also the gym that I worked out at.

I had a Friday and weekend off and had made a note a week ago that I had plans and would not be able to cover at all.

My gf and I had planned to go workout, then go out to dinner, and then drive to the beach for the weekend that night.

As soon as I got to there, the aquatics manager comes running up to me and says that I have to go in because the other guy didn't show up. Told him I couldn't and he said that I was fired if I didn't and then he just walked away.

We just went to workout and then left without saying a word to him or going back to the pool.

Found out later that he had just left and they had no lifeguard on duty for the whole shift.

He ended up getting written up for it and they even called me back in to try to get me to come back.

Didn't care, cause it was just a shitty teenage job.
