How awful of an idea is running a music business?
I live in an upper-middle class area, and I've found that there aren't any music stores nearby. I play a lot, and have a lot of experience with different music. Figured we'd do lessons there, repairs, sell music, strings, etc.
Yay or nay? Pretty sure I'm going with it but I just want to see /biz/s opinion
Music stores died for a reason

Maybe in your area. My state has a lot of active band members, and the nearby school has a notorious marching band

Don't go with it, the music industry is dead. Believe me, if you had that idea 20 years ago then i'd give you full support, nowadays just no, selling records is over. Nowadays the music industry relies obly on concerts for their money as people can listen to any song they want using spotify and the internet. Sorry OP, seems like you gotta find another thing to open.
