Investing in a solar etf should be a pretty good long term investment, right? I mean, the world is slowly moving towards alternative energy. Thats just the next stage in energy evolution. Theres no way solar power can be a loser in the long term.

Why not diversify? Especially in a field that seems due for technological advancement in the coming years.
But where's the profit?
absolutely incorrect. nuclear (in its many forms) is the future. so yeah, you've been misinformed. you should research energy.
solar sucks dick
Nuclear > hydroelectric > geothermal (when possible) > experimental (tidal, wave) > wind> solar
Prove me wrong, solarfags

The profit is in the long run. Pretty much every democrat politician agrees that gas and coal need to be phased out for something better. They'll make big pushes to help the alternative energy sector become more popular as a means of powering the country. Being as solar is not currently very efficient, it has a large potential for technological advancement.

I don't know how I feel about nuclear. It has always been very polarized in public opinion. Many people are scared of it because of events like Fukishima, but it definitely holds potential. I think it will gain more popularity in developing countries outside the US in coming years, but I think within the US, it won't be gaining in popularity soon.

Solar has the advantage of the private sector. Business and homes can easily install solar panels. Everything else, not so much. It will only become more popular the more efficient that solar technology becomes.

If by private sector you mean government welfare.
