If I make 40k a year what should I be spending on rent? Currently spending ~$600 altogether no central heat or air tho
Do you want heating and ac? Then find something with them. Can you go without it? Then stay where you are. Limiting yourself to some arbitrary amount for rent based on income is retarded.
I made a little over $60k so far this year. I'm spending $0 a month thanks to being supported by a little thing I like to call mom and dad.

As little as you can get away with without it affecting your health or happiness.

If you want something decent then shoot for 1250, and then get a room-mate to split the cost of rent and utilities with. In fact, I recommend a room-mate wholeheartedly just to save up.
The whole 30% on rent is a meme. Find the price range you are willing to spend and find a decent place. If you spend more than 30% because you want certain amenities so be it. If it falls under 30% because you dont even better. Im currently spending a little under 30% myself and that is only because i moved to a larger house because im expecting a child now. Before I was literally spending like 7% on a traphouse apartment

Upgrade faggot. It depends where you live and how much space you need. If you are by yourself you don't need a big ass place. Around where I live $1000 can get you a pretty comfy place to live.
Get an AC or heater unit? Whys that so hard to figure it?
