Is economics a branch of the Humanities or is it an exact science?
Also, what would /biz/ recommend to someone who's trying to learn economics by himself, at home, without the assistance of college classes? Is Mankiw's book "Principles of Economics" a good way to start?

>Is economics a branch of the Humanities or is it an exact science?
It's neither, you retard.
It's a social science.

Why are you trying to learn economics in your spare time?
In two years, you will be able to go to an employer and let them know "Yeah, I studied economics in my free time."
It's a social science.
>Mankiw
Seems legitimate, go for it.

Why would you want to study economics in your free time? One, it won't get you a job anywhere, and two, obviously you have no intention of reading Mises. So at the end of the day you're just going to be walking around with these weird pretensions of how government spending spurs the economy into action and why the Federal Reserve is a necessary instrument for economic progress.
Why not just start learning chess or physics in your off time? Both are much more interesting and will at the very least serve you at some point in your life. Better yet, read some classic literature.
