>start firm A
>firm A takes out loan to buy asset
>start firm B
>firm A sells asset to firm B massively discounted
>file for for firm A's bankruptcy
What could go wrong?
Someone eventually has to take the fall for it though
Bankruptcy legal proceedings will review all of firm A business transactions. Once common ownership is determined firm B might be held liable

That's called a fraudulent conveyance, and its against the law. The transfer is void or voidable, and you, as perpetrator of the fraud, may be subject personally to civil and criminal penalties.
>file for for firm A's bankruptcy
Bankruptcy fraud is also against the law, both civilly and criminally. So now you've doubled you financial exposure and doubled your potential risk of criminal prosecution.
Not only will the scheme not work, but it'll land you in prison.
But other than that, wonderful thread OP. Thanks for making /biz/ great again.
