I'm getting into webdesign freelance soon - going to make on demand WordPress themes and plugins.
Is there anything I should know before starting?
I already have a portfolio with several completed websites, as well as a GitHub with my software.

Thanks for the advice, anon.
Is scamming frequent in freelance? How does one avoid getting scammed? Does anybody have any suggestions as to which freelance platform is the best for beginners?

I'm a freelance web dev but I don't use freelance websites, I don't see the point in engaging in a race to the bottom. It's not sustainable and it doesn't scale and you never get to meet your clients (can never build real trust).
As >>1382901 said.
Always have a contract that specifies how much is being paid, when it's being paid and what exactly they are paying for (including how much amends they are allowed).
Network, find events to go to and hand out business cards, tell them you're good at what you do etc. You have to do this unless you want to slave away on those freelance sites.
I can answer any other questions.

What webdesign service is the easiest to find clients for nowadays?
WordPress theme and plugn building seems like a big one. What about some other ones? Also, what's the easiest way to find customers?
