He might not be from America my man. I'm a Brit. Some of the middle-tier private schools have drug dogs. Very few others do. Top private schools kick druggies out and comp students are too poor to afford many drugs (or they don't have the resources to care)..

If you're thinking longterm:

Put it in your savings so you get atleast a bit of intrest. Keep saving until you have enough to buy an index funds with the fee being negligible. Rince an repeat. untill you graduate uni.

Tbh £300 isn't much to invest with.

Platform fees and trading charges make entering the stock market with that kind of sum prohibitive. An index fund may have lower costs, especially if you have the ability to drip feed in extra money on a monthly basis afterwards.

Most savings accounts including ISAs yield under 3% annually, and to be honest the market standard is currently sub-1%. So don't kid yourself that just sitting on cash will make it grow. An exception might be using a peer to peer platform as a savings account - I use MoneyThing which is a UK site, pays 12% as standard, and so far has an excellent track record regarding defaulting loans. Read up on it and understand the risks. Your £300 would make £3 a month there, which you can reinvest for compounding interest, and ideally add to frequently.

Anything more lucrative would by definition be speculative or an outright gamble. Go to a casino and put the whole lot on red if you want a thrill and a near-50:50 chance to double your money.

The reality is that the easiest way for an 18 year old to grow their savings is to increase your income, ie get a job. Reduce your outgoings by not going clubbing twice a week like your trendt twat mates. Grow your savings and make compound interest your best friend.
