Don't say this. It sounds like you're making excuses for being a fuck up. Grades don't fucking matter I had a 3.98GPA and no one gave a fuck about it. They never even asked to see my transcripts. I actually didn't get a job at a start up once because they "wanted to see I tried and failed at something" and "need to see you went outside of your comfort zone, you need to know what failure feels like" also "gaming the system with easy options" fuck they were dicks about my high GPA. They went on and on about entrepreneurship and overcoming obstacles.
Anyway tell them learning is more important to you than grades, you're focus was on xyz during school and you cared more about some subjects than others. This is even if they give a fuck.
