Should I buy a house?
I'm a truck driver and have been doing it for almost 5 years. I've been OTR so I was on the road 24/7 never taking home time. But I just got a dedicated account making more money and I already have $118K in savings. My job allows me to be home on some nights during the week and every weekend. I'm currently just staying with my Dad again.
Is it worth it to invest in a house? I would be required to establish residence within 100 miles of Richmond, VA. Is there any good housing markets in the area?

I don't see why you would buy a house right now. Stay in hotels when you need to. Just keep saving money until you can retire, then buy a house where you want to retire.

First I wanted to say I don't know how you do it. I tried Flatbeding for two months before I had to call it quits.
I would only buy a house if you absolutely must. If your only going to be there that infrequently you should try to rent a room or find a cheap apartment.
Houses are not investments, and if this isn't your ideal location I would put off buying.

Flatbedding requires a lot of extra hands on work. Also I don't see how he "tried flatbedding" when those jobs usually require years of experience.
