I'm moving to Houston in a week for a well paying job. The plan is to get an extended stay hotel and look at apartments or houses in person and move in as soon as possible, preferable within two weeks of getting into town. I don't have any credit history at all because every credit card I've applied for I've been declined for not making enough income. Right now I pay my own rent but my parents cosigned the lease. Can I get an apartment without credit and without a cosigner? I could potentially pay several months rent in advance.
Are there any issues with my plan /biz/? And while we're at it, any general advice on moving to a new town for work? I'm a loner and don't think I'll really see any of my friends or family back home again.

shitty ones that you'll get shot in
If you go through a property management company, they won't give a shit as long you have proof of income and no criminal record. They want to fill their units.
Individual landlords may vary.

I'm not going to start my job for like a month after I move.

Why move so early? I'd move at most a week early.

I have several "orientations" before training starts.
I just moved across the country. Make sure you have a lot saved up, it gets expensive.
Also, install the MeetUp app. I've done several fun things because of it.
