I just graduated high school (18) and started a computer repair/secondhand tech business to dip my feet into the business world and pay for college. I'll work on that while going to community college. After that I plan on starting some other ventures.

I don't know what to major in, though. Thoughts?

If you like computers, major in network admin or systems architecture or something similar. Hell, if you plan to start your own company, you probably don't even need to graduate college; just get a couple certifications and start selling yourself to small firms; offer web hosting and/or to set up a shared file server, etc.

Look into this for potential degree programs; make sure you stick to nonprofit accredited institutions though. Don't get a degree from a for-profit; it will cost you more, and will be worth less in the business world.

philosophy
critical thinking is more important than actual know-how of how circuitry works or the science behind hardware and software and all that lolligag stuff.

the most important question you can ever ask yourself is why?

I like computers, but my real goal is to be a big business owner.

Thanks for the link! I'm doing community college already though, will help me make connections and gain experience too. They have a free honors program which is very good.

I can tell you can't think critically. You'll never be a big business owner.

if my business ventures don't work out, it'd be best to have something to fall back on. if they do, i can pay off the 30k for 4 years easily.
