I've lost $650 in the stock market. Beyond all the money I've lost, the opportunity cost of sitting here watching the market all day is fucking me. I want to come out of the hole, but I just keep sinking deeper. Should I quit?
>>
>>1201428
Yep.
At least until you figure out what the fuck you're doing.
Trying to master that shit on a shoestring budget is pointless. There are people who've been at it years still losing money, do you really have the financial reserves to not work and/or lose money for who knows how long?
>>
>>1201428
its gambling unless you follow index investing and event then crashes happen. the number one sources for increasing your money is a job, shit make bird houses on the side and sell them.
>>
>>1201428
I know the feel. I've likely lost more time/money trying to make more money.

Were on the same boat :/
I have $90 more in losses because I shorted RIG at 9.60 covered at 9.75
>>
I've lost 50 times that in a single day. So if you can't handle a $650 loss, it means you're too risk averse for stocks. Nothing wrong with that. Stocks aren't for everbody. Look at high rated bonds or just keep a savings account.
>>

Nearly An heroed when MCP now MCPIQ filed for bankruptcy and I was balls deep.
>>

Dude, you don't have the stomach for this. Just put your money in a safe bond portfolio or something and forget about it. The stress just seems like too much for you right now.

I'm of course highly exaggerating. Kek, I've blown more at casinos .. it's just that casinos pay.. the market hasn't been too good. Also I'm not OP

If $650 loss is a problem, don't play stocks. Put your money in a mutual fund or something and keep contributing till you get 10 grand or so then come back. Meanehile boost your investing /business knowledge

HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU LOSING MONEY!?

Everything is up. You need to realize that you are gambling; not investing.

Are you buying iShares Ultra Short ETMs? 3x Bear ETNs? What the fuck are you doing?

Go check out the B12 trader on YouTube. Do not even look at stocks for more than half an hour a day.

But fuck it, it's your money.

Why would you watch the market all day? Just put your money in an index fund that reliably has good returns over the long term and has low fees.

hey, how the bankruptcy works? I've bought 17k of shares at $0.38 and when they filled for bankruptcy later the price went down to $0.01. Now it's $0.03 but I'm not sure what to expect. Will all those shares just disappear as soon as the bankruptcy thing will be finished in the court or I'll get some money automatically?
I just don't want to sell it for peanuts because I'll need to pay brokerage fees that will be higher that those shares are worth now.
>>
>>1201436
I mean /biz/ is full of Neets and 20 somethings, pretty much the ideal group to learn this shit and not work kek.

People here give up too easily to be successful on the market though. It's like they think losses aren't part of the learning process.
>>
>>1202369
>give up too easily
It's because most go in thinking that you just need to find shortcuts to win. When the tips from other idiots and articles in Money magazine don't result in a goldmine, they tend to get discouraged. It's like they watched the Robin Hood thread and believe the "stock market" runs on what some neckbeard in his basement thinks.

>they think losses aren't part of the learning process
Sometimes they are, but if they're making decisions based on "tips", the string of "educational" losses won't stop until they're broke.
>>
>>1201428
If you can't tolerate risk, get out and do something safer.
>>
My brokerage account balance goes up and down $12K ever single day just on volatility.

It's all a matter of perspective. But yeah, stop day trading. You can't win.
>>
Anyone?
>>1202346
>>
>lost $650

it's honestly not that huge of an amount anyways.
I've got a few DRIPs going and hold for long term
Price swings of thousands of dollars don't faze me, eventually through dividends my losses will be neutralized and I will have more shares than I started with.

Maybe day trading just isn't for you, maybe you should quit before you get yourself into a hole you wont be able to get out of.
>>
>>1202971
It depends on what happens in bankruptcy court. It's possible, but highly unlikely, that the company somehow survives and the shareholders don't get utterly wiped out. In that case, you can either sell the share or hang on to them.

If, on the other hand, the shareholders are destroyed (either liquidation of the company or a recapitalization) your shares become worthless and that's it.

For the number of shares you have, it's still worth almost $1,000. You have to decide if bankruptcy will wipe out the shareholders, which case you should sell while you still can, or if the company will somehow manage to save the shareholders, in which case it's probably better to hang on and wait for a better selling price.

But it's not. I already lost ~$6k on it and it's worth $569 now. However I just checked and the commission for selling this shit will be only $10, way less than I paid for the purchase

They have mcpiQ notice the Q at the ticker they might issue new shares later and ask your mcpiQ to be returned for shitty diluted new shares but it's as good as it gets.
>>
>>1203007
On a related note, since the company is in bankruptcy, what exactly is stopping them from being delisted ?

The chances of it rebounding back to your $6k purchase price are unrealistic, you will have a large loss no matter what, its going to be in the $5000 to $5500 range, or you can lose it all.

I would just cash out and not look back.
>>
>>1201436
why does everyone assume traders here are quitting their jobs to do it? wtf can you not just trade when youre off the clock? I made a post about growing my account and was crucified by how i could never support myself even if i grew my account id spend too much and lose all my capital. how out of touch are all you fucking idiots?

I know this isn't really a contirb. to the thread, but.. the girl in that pic reminds me of a GF I had like 18 yrs ago and lived in a house just like that. She was real dirty, I loved it. She showed me her mom's porn/dildo stash and even let me use some on her. Long story short; We skipped school one day, drank some of her moms wine and did some of her mom's blow and we ended up having a smoke on her back patio/deck and she of course started blowing me. Wanted me to come on the welcome mat for some reason.. OK.

Turns out that her mom came home for lunch break and saw us but for some reason didn't tell her and ground her until the next day....

>tfw you know she was watching

1) Trading "when you can" is a terrible idea, and will deprive you of much opportunity. If someone restricted your access to the market at any time of the day, you'd be ok with that? Terrible idea.

2) Trying to master an activity that is difficult for those with fat accounts, while you have jack shit, is another terrible idea.

3)Not sure if you fall in to this category (lots here do), but using some shit app that can't even legally call itself a brokerage, because it lacks basic functionality. Incredibly terrible idea.

tl;dr This is why people say you shouldn't trade: you're probably not set up/prepared for it.

Ya because 90% of entrepreneurs succeed and are millionaires. Its like you said - an echo chamber. They hear shit then parrot it back in a different thread. Active trading is fine if you know what youre doing. Tons of people make money at it
>>
>>1203432
>trash active trading saying most lose money so dont even try
It's true that it isn't suitable for most people.
Including the vast majority here.
Are you sure that what you're seeing isn't just that the guy with $500 to "trade with" doesn't want to hear this?

>Tons of people make money at it
No, "tons" don't. Really.
People claiming wins doesn't prove any sort of long term performance, so how do you know this?
>>
>>1203459
Anecdotal I guess. I make consistent profit as well as do a few buddies of mine. My question is where are you getting these stats that they dont? Ive yet to be shown anything that says that daytrading is an inevitable loss. Or really even that its any less viable than any other business venture. Please cite some sources. And come down off your high horse. If a dude has $500 and wants to invest hes FAR better off rolling some penny stocks. If he knows what hes doing he can snowball it quicker than any savings account or passively managed fund. A large amount of starting capital opens doors but education is the real foundation. Some people start with less
>>
>>1203471
It seems like youre the one who keeps telling people whats what.
>>
When you first begin trading, with no mentor or proper guidance, you will lose tons of money. Some people wipe their whole portfolio. If your current strategy isn't working then do some research, find out what you can improve and don't be afraid to completely revamp your way of trading. Despite what you may think, you probably don't even have a strategy.
>>
>>1203471
Oh, ok.
Well, good luck with your trading!
>>
>>1203496
>>1203480

It's 6 in the morning here and I'm tired.
Data shows in a given quarter around a third of traders made profit but it's actually only around ten to fifteen percent profitable traders in the long run since losers come and go and sometimes even losers have profitable quarters before they go bust.
