Assuming you can afford everything required for both, what's more profitable - running a small hosting company from home, or mining cryptocurrency?

In terms of margins, probably the hosting company. In terms of actual profit, probably the hosting company.
mining is not really profitable unless the coin you mined rockets in value or you have cheap energy
in an ideal world? renewable harvesting to power mining that runs max off cheap grid at night?
Do the calcs bro, you didnt even post your location, capital equity, or electricity costs which are some of the main factors here....
all that said, hosting is changing as a game as compaines become more aware of 'le spooky cloud' and mining is in a massive state of flux (as BTC cant sit still for 5 minutes)

if it is already a popular coin it has already been mined by people far better than you, if you think a cryptocoin will become popular then you are essentially gambling, you might as well bet against trump becoming president if you want better odds
running a small hosting company is a good long term investment and a better investment in general, you will develop useful skills as you troubleshoot problems
Thanks bros.
I think I will go with the hosting company option, since I already have some experience in the field. I will probably run a small game server host. I can get very cheap and high bandwidth fiber Internet over here, and I have enough space and money to afford to place a server rack or two in my garage.
