since it was a learners license they took my license away for 3 months because of it. Also i am going into an industry where i will be transporting goods and having to follow strict rules and be drug tested frequently

Ultimately, if they're the type to scrap you for doing something that small that long ago, they're probably the type to ask for a 5 year history too.

If they're normally pretty chill, they might still ask for a 5 year, just to see if you weren't being totally transparent with them. When they find out you weren't, you're probably fucked, regardless of whether or not they care about the pot charge itself.

If you're totally transparent, the only issue you face is their stance on the incident. It's probably the best way to go.

Fair enough thanks for your input ill give them a 5 year. Ill give it to him in person that way i can explain it was when i was "young and dumb" and it was the first and only time that has happened. Im starting to think they will give me the benefit of the doubt

I still don't think they'll care honestly. Just give them the five year and fess up to the fact you smoked pot as a teen but you grew out of it. If they don't understand then you don't want to be working for someone that unreasonable.
