What's the verdict on him as a businessman?
What's the verdict on Art of the Deal?
Let's try to keep politics out of this
>>
>>1134672
He obviously did something right considering he's a billionaire

>inb4 butthurt libs with the million dollar loan meme

Turning a million dollars into a billion dollars is like turning a thousand dollars into a million dollars. If it's so easy why haven't you done it?
>>
>>1134696

http://www.moneytalksnews.com/why-youre-probably-better-investing-than-donald-trump/
>>
>>1134672
>small loan of a million dollars
>would've made more money by putting his cash into an S&P 500 index fund and sitting on his ass
Truly a gifted businessman.
>>
>>1134696
Its nothing alike, he had $1,000,000 of starting capital, which you can do a lot more with than just $1,000. Duh.
>>
>>1134711
>would have made more money had he predicted that s&p would have been bear for 7 years straight
hehheh
>>
>>1134727
If your average shitposter was given a million dollars they'd spend it all on anime toys and porn.

>>1134709

>>
Trump is very good at:
Negotiation
Getting along with people (the debates are an anomaly, people in his world find him to be very charming)
Marketing and Branding
Surrounding himself with smart people

Trump is not so good at:
Real estate development (iffy record)
Diversification (didn't invest in stocks until recently)
Managing the day to day of a business (once he gets the branding win and gets bored, his companies sometimes go to shit)

Overall I think he'd be a fine President if he gets the right people in his cabinet and as his advisors.
>>
>>1134711
>not knowing the difference between an investor vs. a businessman
>not considering that the S&P500 is a floating index of the top 500 companies in the US, thus a more fair comparison would be to compare his gains to the original 500 companies when he first started
>comparing a private business (Trump Organization) to companies that have access to the public capital raising

Must be fun to go on 18+ image boards and act like an adult
>>
>>1134711
>complete disregard the billions he spent
>completely ignore intangibles like fame
>S&P didnt take off till the mid 90s.

Trump has a brother, who also inherited money. He blew it all on booze and drugs and died drunk driving. You know how easy it is for your average person to be a degenerate? It's a thousand times easier for someone who has it all. Lots of people have a million dollars. Very few turn it into a billion. This isnst the hero America deserves. He's the hero we need.
>>
He got a good spawn and played all his cards safely and agressivly. Hes a good businessman, but i have more respect for the turbojews whether they win or lose, such as william walker.
>>
He's a meme.

He won't become president and /pol/ cry just like with mitt romney
>>
>>1134672
Make America Great Again
>>
>>1134730
>If your average shitposter was given a million dollars they'd spend it all on anime toys and porn.
Not being your average idiot doesn't somehow make you a good businessman. This is a really poor argument.
>>
>>1134811
>We should like Trump because he's rich and didn't turn "degenerate".

Literally what the fuck does that mean? Trump could host orgies at his penthouse suite every other night and you wouldn't know.
>>
>>1134811
>The hero we need

You know he's a businessman just saying what gullible idiots want him to say, right?

He's regularly contradicted things he's said previously and will without a doubt go back on his major promises.

>"Well... I've talked to my people and maybe we don't need a wall after all"
>>
>>1134873
>>1134884
>Option A: businessman who's stated goal is to, "Make America Great Again," but has changed his stance on abortion after seeing close family friends raise and love a child that survived an abortion

>Option B: felon who i literally responsible for the creation of ISIS and the deaths of American citizens and the rape of thousands of middle eastern girls, who's stated goals are to increase immigration and give black lives matter whatever they demand.

>Option C: a communist

Really hard choice here, guys
>>
>>1134672
Trump is to business as Dr. Oz is to medicine.
>>
>>1134709

I'd like to see someone get famous, become a world famous name and be the frontrunner to be US President by investing in index funds.
>>
He's a good business man but not a great one.

>>
>>1134909
>Make America Great Again

He has just repeated that over and over and over. He never explains HOW, he just says funny memes 14 year olds on /pol/ laugh about and insults people in debates.
>>
>>1134923
Who cares. It's the sentimeny that matters. He's the only candidate running on American exceptionalism. Who are you voting for
>>
>>1134923

>>
>>1134929

So saying what people want to hear and just playing off that is a good president?

He doesn't have any ideas beyond ebin /pol/ memays, or at least he seems to never discuss them.

At least Bernie, being the communist he is, can actually explain his opinions not just say "MAKE AMERIGA GREAT AGAIN. WE'RE GONNA BUILD A HUGE WALL TO BLOCK THE MEANIES AND THRN KILL ALL TERRORISTS"
>>
>>1134709
why isnt every boomer a billionaire?
>>
>>1134941
Bullshit. All Bernie Sanders ever says is "the rich will pay for it." The President is a figurehead who sets the mood of the country. We dont need a President with a million shitty ideas he wastes all our time and money on
>>
>>1134909
>Option A: reality tv show host whose colossal business investment failures reveal he's nothing more than a brand merchant who got lucky with a rich daddy

>Option B: former US Senator and Secretary of State with sensible centrist policies that will build on the progress of the last 8 years

>Option C: honest US Senator with a consistent record of progressive policies and helping the American working class

See how easy it is? I'm not even a fan of anyone running but your strawman post is so retarded I couldn't help myself
>>
>>1134955
Rich people will pay for it = Make America Great Again

Don't you see the irony?
>>
>>1134961

>>

Not even a trump supporter.
but
he could never have touched the money.
If there was even one billionaire with it all in US index funds he would have been picked clean in no time through fees.
also comparing money at the peaks and not the troughs is foolish.

He could never have run for president. b/c he wouldn't be famous.
He couldn't have paid his father back the money.

>>1134733
I'm not sure someone made a good argument today about his pockets being spread around the globe. making him a risky international bet.

Trump Hotel in Turkey for example. Very close to Syria. Russians give terrorists plans. WW3 in no time.

>>1134956
brand merchants don't become billionaires.
>>
>>1134981
So Bernie does want to steal from the rich, but it wont work. And Trump doesn't want to Make America Great Again. But the two are exactly the same. Thinking is not your strong suit, is it?
>>
>>1134993
>He does not understand that I am saying that both of them just say what their target audience want to hear without backing it up

Why does Trump literally never talk about any of his policies in debates? He always avoids every question and makes it a third grade tier conversation
>Ur dumb and ur mom is fat, Jeb
>>
>>1134995
Because its boring as shit to drag on about policies. Nobody wants to hear that shit when you can see it on his website. Notice he has won every debate by huge margins? I dont think he needs your debate advice, buddy
>>
>Politicians change their views and say whatever they want to get elected
>Not Trump! He ain't no stinking politician! He's had a complete and utter change in heart, which is why he no longer believes anything he did just a few years ago!

I don't get it. I really don't. I understand Trump has a presence nobody else does, but how do his supporters blatantly excuse him for the same shit they supposedly hate about the "establishment"?

The fact that he's only worth $2b-$4.1b, depending on who's accounting, when he could have thrown it an S&P index fund and raked in $13b should tell you something about his "business" acumen.

I've been stationed in, TDY to, or deployed to England, France, Germany, Greece, Crete, Israel, Egypt, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Japan, and Australia. I've visited Canada, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Lithuania. With the exceptions of Russia and China, I've been to every country on earth that could conceivably be considered a peer to the US, and there's not a one that is better than we are.

All that said, were the 90's better? Yep. Would Trump and his "plans" bring us back to the 90's? Nope. Bush Classic raised taxes. Clinton raised taxes, cut the military to the bone, instituted more social programs and directed growth. Would Trump do any of that?

Fuck off. This is like somebody is a terrible businessman if he didn't invest in google back in 1997.

Is there some kind of list that shows how rich Donald has gotten compared to other millionaires of his time ?
For example, now he is the 150th richest person in America. Which was his place back in 1975 ? If anything, it would be a great way to see if he is actually successful.
If he was number 500th back then, then he is a successful businessman.
If he was number 100th back then, then he is not very successful.

It's not like that at all.
Investing in single companies is a skill that admittedly only gauges your ability to a good trader. However index fund investing isn't about luck or foresight, it's literally just the average of every major company.

And, no, no one historically kept track of the top X richest people every year, even if they did it's guess work at best since people who aren't the top 10 will never release their worth so they lie about it ( e.g. Trump). Regardless just tracking spots doesn't measure performance either because some people just inherited a huge gain that doubled their worth over night (e.g. Trump again) whereas others literally clawed their way to the top with no help at all (e.g. not Trump).

But you shills say that most people can do as well or better than Trump. That means a 1,000,000% return. So as long as the boomer had $1000 in an index fund, he'd have $10 million.

>they only had $20k
That's very resonable to assume, back then certainly (when you could easily buy a house on one salary). $20k would turn into $200 million with Trump's rate of return (1,000,000%). Why do millenials have student loans if their grandparents all sit on 1/5 of a billion dollars? They couldn't share a million to give their heirs a work-free life?

>muh S&P 500
Why aren't your grandparents billionaires? Buffet could do it easily, but he's an investing genius. Your grandparents should've been able to save ~$100k on their own, and invested that into an index fund. After that, you just sit and bam, there you go, a billion dollars.

Why aren't you retired for life, anyway? You could've mined bitcoins for a few months back when you could GPU mine, and you would've been a millionaire when it hit its highest level (even now, at the current price). Why aren't you a multi-millionaire? All you had to do was run a program on your PC a few years ago.
