I haven't read freakonomics so I'm not sure what you mean by that but it's honestly an interesting book that doesn't go too deep into jargon and terminology that it would make no sense to a layman.

It has a good foreword before every chapter and breaks it down nicely. It's also not written like a book, each part doesn't necessarily depend on the preceding "chapter" being read to understand what's going on.
