So I'm in my final year at uni and after three long ass interviews (all late on Friday afternoons) I got a phone call from one of the recruitment folks at the company whose grad scheme I loved telling me I wasn't successful because - get this- I'm not assertive enough in my responses.
Any tips for getting a bit of the old confidence back and getting back out on the job hunting horse while handling all the school stuff?
Also would it be pointless to call him back and have a little rant to make myself feel better? I really had my heart set on this scheme.
Also - any tips on coming across as assertive but not a dick?
Yeah so what you gotta do is be more assertive

I'm not sure if I... oh okay, if that's what you think is best I'll do that.

Even online your responses aren't assertive enough..
Good on you for trying to better yourself though.

He's probably referring to a graduate program. Full time jobs designed for fresh university graduates usually lasting 1-2 years, often with rotations through different business units. I don't think they're that common in the US but they're big in Australia and Europe.
