Just know that there's a bunch of assholes in real estate and everyone claims that they understand the market (its a buyers market, ect.) It's okay to play along but please don't buy into that bullshit.

Thank you for replying. I didn't even realize it was considered white collar but that's a plus. I realize i'd be competing with people who have advanced degrees and experience.


I've also read conflicting articles, some saying I'd need a second job to make ends meet and others saying I need 100% availability for clients. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think you will be competing with people who have advanced degrees. My impression of real estate agents is that they're high school graduates, maybe college, who are good at sales and have hustle. Women seem to gravitate to the field out of some kind of nesting instinct, they just fucking love houses and shit. I don't think real estate agents are particularly smart. I know some guys who got into it for a while and they were average.

Experience however is probably a big part. Knowing how to get clients and establishing a word of mouth is probably important. Also it's a lot of sales and people skills which come naturally for some people but for others requires a learning curve.

I would think you'd have to do this full time, you'll need to meet according to your client's schedule. A side gig might be nice but the hours would have to be flexible, maybe a home business or something. Real estate agent's income is unpredictable, you might wash out in the first few months if you can't get it going right away.

Just get a fucking university degree you fucking bum, this is 2016 we need an educated workforce

I think women gravitate toward real estate because it's a semi-respected 'profession' where you get to wear a suit and feel professional but it doesn't require the long term commitment of an actual qualification.

Which is probably why a lot of men like it to, and it's probably a pretty good reason to like it.
