Freeport stock trades at a 20% discount to its book value and at just 6 times 2017 earnings. That seems to add up to a decent long-term value play.

Anyone who isn't on FCX right fucking now is a stupid fuck who is too retarded to think up what he'll eat for dinner tomorrow

Commodities are just low at the current moment, but like they do every 3 years they'll bounce right the fuck back up to the 20's and 30's

Finally figured out how to make money on this shit. Now I know why they say you need at least 10000 to start investing.
It has nothing to do with how expensive stocks are and has everything to do with the flexibility that using only a small chunk of your money to invest with gives you.

Doubling down is the name of the game but you can only play on blue chips stocks so that you can almost always wait out the clock to beat.
>>
>>1087659
what companies are you playing with
>>
>>1087003
Don't buy at that price if your day trading.

I've only been avidly watching them for about 4 months but it seems way to high unless you have news of something that might raise it more.
>>
>>1087003

They own 2 mining sites. One ceased operation due to unprofitability and the other is a huge site with potential. They claim they're waiting for an investor or investors to go ahead with that site.

Their website looks like it was built in 1997.

This is the type of company I would subscribe to news alerts for. Maybe something pops up where they are moving forward with business and you can buy up stock on the cheap.

I've just considered getting into stocks/securities. A co-worker, a asian guy who works night shift with me while working accounting stuff during the day, i've been talking to him about it recently as he's been into it for awhile, i've signed up for my Bank's securities thing online, wondering about some basic information on what I should be looking at, avoiding and etc.. as a beginner.
I've heard the Aussie market is pretty strong at the moment so there are some opportunities here and there (the asian guy invested in a new Milk company which went from $2 a share to $7 over the past few years, and his friend invested in baby powder which has raised insanely, something like $2 to $16 since China dropped their 1 baby policy recently, and every cunt is buying the better products from Australia they can't get in China.

But yeah, I have no real reliable places to look and analyze this information myself at the moment, just rely on others mentioning it and it's usually after the fact.

Frontier communications is doubling their customers soon in an acquisition of verizon assets. It's pretty low right now and I estimate the stock should jump up once the acquisition gets going. theres this thing that happens with leveraged ETFs called 'decay'

lets say yo have a normal ETF and a 2x ETF tracking the same thing

regular ETF goes up 10% on the day
2x ETF goes up 20% theoretically

now next day comes around
regular ETF drops 10%
2x ETF drops 20%

when we plug in real numbers here we will see the decay

regular ETF: $100 -> $110 -> $99
2x ETF: $100 -> $120 -> $98

see how you end up with less money holding the leveraged ETF instead of the standard one?
>>
>>1090698

could be good for swing trading, the slope of their price line seems pretty reliable. Wouldn't hold for more than a week though. probably a bad buy long term since im guessing they make money solely off ads and the second those ads become intrusive, people will just start using facebook or some copy cat instead.
>>
>>1091048
whoops my math fucked up

regular ETF: $100 -> $110 -> $99
2x ETF: $100 -> $120 -> $96

fixed.

the point remains the same

If you read the web page they plan on charging for margin accounts once they get all the banking stuff cleared. No margin means no shorting or options either. Because they don't have any advisers or extra crap (even stuff that'd make fucking sense like volume charted on the price graph) it's really quite cheap for them to do purely digital trades. They have a clearer path to monitization than twitter and less overhead so why not?

That is majorly fucked up. Jack Dawson is the biggest dickhead in business. If he was replaced by a cigar chomping 70 year old hard ass the stock would rise 35% instantly.

They have the dumbest fucking opinion on their own company. They need to monetize using the process that got them there.

I had a shower thought, companies should tweet coupons to followers, then there needs to be a pay system so that you can click on tweets and purchase from the vendor you follow. Companies should follow back so people want to follow more companies. Companies should advertise as tweets not canned ads, there should be a policy that companies be more active to keep a contract with Twitter so people want to get hyped.

Periscope should have tons of insider infomercial shit and cool shows the corporations do to show off new products live, so people feel more connected in real time to their corporations and buy products.

TL:DR Twitter should emphasize the community building aspects in advertising, with emphasis on tweeting ads not canned and make TweetPay a thing.

Learn to screen. Go to finviz and learn to play around with it. You're looking for undervalued stuff for longs and overvalued stuff for shorts. Develop a strategy and then get a paper account to test it. It's a lot of practice and a lot of work to get good at it but anything worth doing is.

Since RH doesn't let you short, here's a rough guide for longs. Anything over 5 bucks on this list on a daily screen is worth watching

There's a lot more to it than that (like learning good entry/exit points) and everyone's situation is different but that'll give you a good idea of the kinds of stocks you should be looking at.
>>
>>1097184
Not bad mouthing RH cause it's teaching people/removing barriers to entry, but I do this with every stock I own. That's surprising that they won't let you. Maybe you get what you pay for.
>>
>>1097168
Don't listen to the meme pickers unless they show you proofs of profits (they can't).

Buy Ford, I went with GM myself, but really they're very similar.
>>
>>1097203
It's honestly the worst possible thing, instead of having a failsafe to make money if the stock goes up and save your money if it goes down, you only have one.
>>
>>1097217
That's why rh is for my play money at the moment. Maybe they'll add more features when they introduce margin accounts.
>>
>>1097189
so is there no way to set up exits for both high and low and have it execute which ever comes first?
>>
>>1097217
I've gotten bye regularly moving my stop loss up behind the stock throughout the day so far, and then just selling myself when it hits a level I deem acceptable.
Honestly the difference is made up by the lack of commission.
>>
>>1097308
not on robinhood there isnt
>>
>>1097308
Just move the stop loss up.
>>
FCX is for cucks? so when it hits $11 which will be soon what will you say then? there has been so many stocks i have seen over the years on /biz/ that people talk shit about and then it shoots right up. Do even have any investments or do you just enjoying trying to fuck people out of making money because you are incapable of doing so yourself?
>>
>>1097522
Jesus what is it with you people and stocks?
Invest in a fucking leveraged gold ETF for christ's sakes. Leverage makes up for the fact that it tracks the whole market by adding risk.
What do you think is easier to predict? An entire sector or one company?
>>
>>1097522
how exactly do i go about investing in fcx? is robinhood the best medium? willing to risk money on this meme because I agree with your statement

> finally making a profit
> rh shits itself before I can sell
This is the fucking third time it's happened

I dumped about $200 into Robinhood to check it out. Lost most of it on shitty stocks early this year

Do I have to include these capital gains on my tax return?

It's literally like $11.50

But it's going to cost me $60 just to upgrade TurboTax to get the right forms...
>>
>>1097963
You have a choice. Either don't report it and hope the IRS doesn't come after you. They likely won't, they're underfunded and you made almost nothing, there are bigger fish to fry. You are still breaking the law though.

Or do your taxes correctly and shell out the $60.
>>
>>1097977
Damn I was kind of hoping there was a minimum exemption where you could avoid filing capital gains seeing as it will probably cost more money to even look at this 35% of $11.50 number than to just let it go..
>>
How does everyone here feel about oil? I bought in DWTI at market open and almost shit myself when I saw it drop that far, but I'm holding on tight.

Apparently "freezing output" means keeping it exactly where it is, right? Plus there's the sanctions on Iran are supposed to be lifted?

Oil can potentially drop to $20, right?
>>
>>1097977
I don't remember the minimum but if you make less than 9 or 10 thousand you don't have to report anything to the irs. Google it to make sure, faggot.

Accounting Major here
if you lost money you can offset it against your capital gains with a carry back of 2 years

>laymans terms
report it, it's a tax benefit, it'll lower your taxable income for up to 2 years back wards if it exceeds your taxable income in the previous years

Cheers m8
>>
>>1098049
This. Report your losses
>>
>>1098023
It could, but every Republican presidential candidate has said they will turn back the deal. So Iran would be pressured into cutting back, and oil could definitely spike back to $60-$100 with a coordinated output reduction. But you're right, if it's the status quo with Iran flooding OPEC will just start flooding as well and oil could go below $20 really easily.

It will be a huge pay off if you get the prediction right, but it's just too damn risky for me.

Go long on NRG, it's expected to hit 52 week high was $20 something
>>
>>1098052
I have some dosh to play with but I've never been more freaked out than now. Coordinated reduction doesn't seem like that's going to happen...yet.

Plus how is our fracking going? I haven't heard of any reduction on our side either. It's like a big game of chicken.

Look closer, mine was a market sell, not a buy, just before the rally. I figured if it was going to take off it would've happened right after opening, when it didn't I panicked.

Congrats on your gainz tough.
You probably bought my shares.
