Is getting your CDL one of the only fields that is not oversaturated. I see ads on craigslist very often for NEW CDL drivers wanted. Some jobs even offer to pay for your CDL.

I just obtained my CDL last June. I drove a flatbed for two months until I could not take it anymore. It's a dirty, backbreaking job, and you give up your whole life to be a trucker.

But to answer your question, yes it is extremely easy to get a trucking job. Pay has risen the past few years, so a new driver could make around 55K. But you have to consider why there are so many trucking jobs, because most people are not will to give up the semblance of a normal life, away from the friends and family, for a paycheck.

To me it was not worth the sacrifice. I get payed much less now but, I'm home every night, I get weekends off, and actually have a life. Maybe if I was 50 I would think about trying it again. But I could never trade my youth for such a meager salary.

My friend who is a high school drop out was making $80k a year working for a Budweiser distributor. Worked 8-10 hour days, home every night.

Being a trucker fucking sucks, though.

Why would you want to do that to yourself?

It is not saturated.... But don't bank on working for landstar or swift and getting rich. Those are realistic starter jobs but Moving box vans from one wearhouse to another has no future. These positions will be the first to be replaced when driverless trucks become viable. You need to move into specialized areas for longterm security. Moving construction equipment/oversize loads long distances is a good example. And never drive a fucked up truck. Dangerous and tickets you get will stay on your record forever. Keep you from getting better jobs.

like >>1035213 said its not saturated but needs more drivers.

but another issue are the increasing amounts of bullshit the DOT puts on drivers.
