It's like a strangely NY version of the midwest. Economically depressed, though, so you can see lots of decrepit run down buildings in the cities. A lot of the farms have really cool dumpy btfo buildings on them, too.

If there were to be an economic resurgence, it would be a hidden gem of a location. But NYS laws suck dick anyway so you might as well live somewhere else.
>>
I lived in Oswego for about six months once. Upstate reminds me of the past-prime cities and towns of Pennsylvania like Allentown and Wilkes Barre. All the industries left and they're depressed as hell. But there's tons of beautiful farm country.
>>
>>1318447

30 miles north of NYC it's pretty much "Yankee Arkansas" except around mid-size urban areas like Rochester, Syracuse, Utica etc..
>>
>>1318451
Places like Utica and Syracuse are such a /comfy/ level of depressing gray cold and decay. An enterprising individual could dream of buying up a whole block of abandoned warehouses for $1.50 to live in, but then you'd probably have to pay $4M/yr in property taxes or some stupid shit.
>>
Albany resident here, fuck this state. don't come here, you're wasting your time and making taxes worse on the rest of us morons who are trapped here

Buffalo faggot here.

At the turn of the 20th century we were one of the richest cities in the world. Its been downhill ever since due to horrible design decisions and niggers. Mostly niggers though.

We still have a lot of nice architecture.

But a lot of the old Victorian houses on the east side are filled with niggers now and they are slowly destroying those. What usually happens is that they will go vacant and then some niglet will burn it down for fun.

A lot of the nicer buildings downtown got destroyed in the 60s and the 70s and were replaced with urban housing (for niggers) and parking lots. Picture is of the Erie County Savings Building that was destroyed and replaced with this ugly tower that's now mostly vacant.

Surprisingly, Buffalo has been experiencing somewhat of an economic renaissance due to their growing medical campus but the fact of the matter is that its still in JEW York state, so people are still leaving. Jew York is a horrible state, never come here.
>>
>>1318450
Basically this. Most people now think cities have always been cesspools filled with brownies and communists, but they were actually very clean and beautiful back in the day. The only thing that keeps me from killing myself is a civil war.
>>
No jobs, no money, vacant buildings, plethora of niggers.
>>
Most of the state is very beautiful and would be so much better off without the fucking boat anchor New York City.
>>
>>1318460
Oh yea that's another big thing now. "Muh heroin". The disturbing part is that these retards expect the government (i.e. taxpayers) to start spending billions on preventing and "curing" their bullshit """disease""". I wish we would let these pieces of shit die. Absolute cancer to society that is beyond saving. FUCK them.
>>
>>1318451

> "Yankee Arkansas"

Isn't that exactly why the mob established towns like Eureka, AR during prohibition?

(fyi, that town is insanely gorgeous)
>>

Rural upstate NY is awesome, aside from the fact it's in NY.
>>

I say the same thing, but I am always met with "ur ignorant" or "Yikes!" from some self-proclaimed "expert" (i.e. nursing student) who thinks addiction is a disease simply because their asshat friend(s) died from the shit.

I lived in Gilbertsville NY, its literally the posh liberal area of upstate NY. They pretty much live in a bubble and shit on everyone that isn't them, its amazing.

>But NYS laws
Hello ignorant cunt. You really think Upstate NY economy went into the shitter because of Gov laws/taxes? You must have drank from the local streams, polluted over the years by big corps.

The only reason Upstate NY was developed was because it provided a means to service NYC, and avenue to receive products from the Mid West & Canada. Hence the construction of the Erie canal.

Once infrastructure (roads & bridges, etc) improved and with the development of Interstate Highways and Bi-Ways, Rail systems, there really wasn't a need for Upstate.

Those towns will NEVER get an economic resurgence by American companies. In fact, the best thing would be to let refugees settle them and open up their own little shops and businesses. That's the only thing that will help those areas

>its all the niggers fault

It's the fault of the death of the eerie canal -- that was the economic engine of the city and the rest of upstate NY. Once that was gone, of course the place will go to shit and halve in population in ~50 years.

That's the problem of all of upstate NY. Other than a handful of services and farming, there's really nothing out there that's turning any sort of profit, so people out there just sort of exist and get by, and the one's w/ talent move away.

It would be nice if industry came back to the area, but until the chinks/pajeets decide to strike for higher wages, or we come up with brand new industries, I don't see it happening.

Which is sad, because upstate can be pretty beautiful
>>
I live outside of Syracuse and work in Syracuse. I get asked for money from nigs about three times a week on my walk to work.

The amount of beggers is insane here, and most of them are junkies who are legit professional beggers who actually have houses and cars.

The poor people ruin this city.

It was slightly interesting when they put in that no taxes for new startups law in, and to see subsidized tech and medical industry projects pop up. Having Wall St. in the state basically ensures that it will never be allowed to implode in advance of the rest of the world.

But as an average person I would place my bets on a getting a good deal somewhere else.

>New York City only contributes a relatively small amount of funding to the MTA — with much of its budget being handled by New York State, under Cuomo. But advocates for better NYC transport have argued that the city is not contributing as much as it should.

“New York City’s contribution to the MTA’s capital plan has not kept pace with inflation. If it had, the City would have contributed $363 million in 2014. Instead, it has contributed an average amount of only $100 million each year since 2000,” the Tri-State Transportation Campaign argues on its website.

>“It is not the time for the city to go into new means of spending that are state responsibility,” de Blasio huffed at a press conference in response.

I went downtown to see fireworks and the RPO and it was awesome. Once the show was over we saw probably hundreds of niggers infesting the street, barely any cops. And we walked for another few minutes, and I'm not even kidding, there was a fucking gang fight. They were carrying paint rollers on sticks (so clubs) and fighting and acting like fucking animals. I recorded Snapchat videos but it's really hard to see what's going on.

I also recorded some black people with their hands glued to the horn getting out of a parking garage.

All in all, I'm happy for the suburbs. I will be moving out of here soon because it's obvious to me it only is getting worse.

Of course it wasn't jobs, that's just what Comeau was spinning it as. NYs only goal is to increase tax revenue, job creation just happened to be a beneficial side-effect. Until all the business left that is.

On that note, who's ready for that Solar City implosion?
>>
>>1318490

Wrong. The Erie Canal was important in the 1820s because of trade. However, Rochester was kept on the map by Eastman Kodak, which screwed the pooch about two decades ago when they said "digital cameras, that'll never catch on" before getting BTFO by companies like Cannon, and filing for Chapter 11.

TL;DR Short-sighted corporate idiots fucked over Rochester's economy.

They're trying to calibrate the right level of response. Not too many years ago, they were raising a lot of hackles over too much of a police state, and there's been a clear shift toward letting messes play themselves out instead.

This is beneficial from several directions. They get people wanting FEMA help or whatever else. They get to pick up funds rebuilding the stuff that gets broken. It beats down and demoralizes the population into expecting and accepting this as the new normal. And it continues to rise of social disorder (terrorism lite) in order to backstop the power and legitimacy of the government as the world descends into global communist revolution, transhumanism, and all the rest.
