>>
>>1200460
>are there any benefits to it
No, it sends you insane if you aren't doing anything productive or stimulating. I have gone to bed at 11pm and lied in bed until around 5am before I fell asleep for a few hours, waking up at 8-9am

I guess it would be handy if you like been awake at night but I got my studies
>>

magnesium deficiency most of the time.
use 200mg of magnesium glycinate at breakfast and dinner. or magnesium amino acid chelate if you cant find it.
>>
>>1200463
also, eliminate all sugars, refined grains, coffee and alcohol.

People with insomnia produce less Melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone made by the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain. Melatonin helps control your sleep and wake cycles.

All you have to do is to add / replace your diet with these.

>Bananas
>Morello cherries
>Porridge oats
>Sweet corn
>Rice
>Ginger
>Barley
>Tomatoes
>Radishes
>Red wine

Some micronutrients are also important in the production of melatonin, including:

>Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate)
>Zinc
>Magnesium
>Folic acid
>>
>>1200463

Also try drinking more water, it might sound silly but I found that by drinking water before going to bed I wake up more rested.

Thanks, I've been up since 2pm yesterday...
>>
>>1200466
correct. dehydration can cause insomnia. got get the electrolytes (mag&potassium) and water.
>>
>>1200467
have you been taking any medicatons
>>
>>1200460
>>1200463
agreed.

400mg mag glycinate works for me

Also niacin 20 mins before bed is the most relaxing thing ion the planet for me. I love the niacin flush. Only lasts for like 20 mins but is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper realcing

start niacin 100mg and work up to 500mg. the "no flush" niacin is bad for your liver, just take normal niacin. It's actually called the anti-death vitamin fyi
>>
>>1200469
No, just really depressed about my work and current situation
>>
>>1200470
metagenics have a really good mag glycinate, but need a prescription. might be able to ask for it over the counter at a herbal dispensary
>>
>>1200460
Get physical exercise if you don't do manual labor (which is highly unlikely), you fat slob
>>
>>1200471
ok.
withania is a great herb, 3g of the root twice daily.
helps with anxiety, stress tolerance. its a really building herb for the endocrine glands
>>
>>1200474
withania takes two weeks to start working. but its the absolute shit. take the mag 200mg twice daily and you shouldnt have a problem.
>>
>redpill me on not fulfilling a basic bodily need
>is there any benefit to it
Yeah after roughly 4 days you'll start to do permanent damage to your brain but it looks like you've discovered that already. Also not politics.
>>
>>1200476
long term != permanent
>>
>>1200472
in canada and the states mag glycinate is readily available at your local health store most of the time
>>
>>1200468
I have tried melatonin, the magnesium and I drink water all the time

Nothing has worked, I got a mind that can't settle down at all, I feel tired and as soon as i hit the bed my mind starts racing. I am not medicated and I refuse to take drugs to help me sleep.

>Are there any benefits to it

Nope, i do alot of shift work changing from day, back and nightshift and it's awful, i've been doing it for nearly 5 years and i'm constantly gaining weight slowly aswell as disregarding my social life.

Here's a quote from one of my favourite films regarding how outsiders see insomniacs:
>In the world there's a certain kind of cult, with men and women of all social classes, of all ages and of all religions. It is the insomniacs cult. I'm part of it. For ten years. Those who don't belong to the cult sometimes tend to say: "If you can't sleep, you can read, watch TV, study or do something else". That kind of phrase is deeply annoying to the members of the cult. And the reason is simple. Cause the insomniac has only one obsession: to sleep.
>>
>>1200477
Alright POTENTIALLY permanent damage then. Either way it's retarded.
>>
>>1200460
Here we fucking go again, lets all ignore the elephant in the room and throw ideas not supported by science around. It fucks with your health massively. Mental health, productivity, relationships, life expectancy, physical health.
>Eat right
>Exercise
>Sort your mental issues out
Every single person in this thread understands this. If you are struggling with this problem, go see a fucking doctor. A good doctor. There are no shortcuts, go for a bike ride, eat healthy and socialise with other people. Show me one brickies labourer who has trouble sleeping, go get tired doing something physical, you might even get paid for doing so.
>>
>>1200479
what form of magnesium and what dose?
>>
>>1200479
do physical activity
>>
>>1200460

Try some phenibut.

I jumped on the hype train and dropped 900mg last friday. Lasted me 3 or 4 days, since it was my first time and I slept a few hours more than my usual 3 hours per rest period.

Also gave me interesting dreams each time, too.

Probably going to jump to 2000mg next friday and see how it effects me.
>>
>>1200478
sweet
>>
>>1200485
phenibut will stop you from having full restful sleep, as it is a (albeit mild) depressant. but i guess its better than no sleep or 3 hours

Interesting that's it's labeled as a depressant. It did virtually nothing to me except add an hour or two to my short sleep cycle and give me memorable dreams each sleep.

Beyond that I noticed no change.
>>
>>1200555
>mild depressant
actually, its effect on respiratory system can be very dramatic for some people. use heavy doses with caution.
>>
>>1200480

And we're entering the snowflake zone
