Some kind of watchtower? Sightseeing spot?

I feel like there is so much you can do with this house. Keep the small house as a guest house? Maybe a cinema room..

silly question, sir
Always been fascinated by these.

They just aren't constructed very well and a round design isn't very space efficient unfortunately.
>>745320815
If you own that place you have enough money for whatever bills.
>>745320815
Not necessarily. Triple insulated glazing with that size of single panels might be much better than a lot of regular houses.

Sorry to sound so negative but it looks damp and moldy plus pretty damaged.
>>745321199
I mean quality of construction is usually shit. The whole point is that these things are basically prefab kit houses. You can order them in the back of magazines like popular science right next to the phermone and build it yourself helicopter ads.

The wall isn't damaged, most of the holes you see are where large wooden beams hold up the floor inside.
There are a few holes but minor.
In the pic it was a foggy and rainy november day, ofc it looks humid kek.
In summer it's just as scorchingly hot as the rest of Northern Italy.
>>745321649
As far as I know it's around 100 years old, I'd have to check the papers to be sure.
Are is Northern Italy (Piedmont).
Paid 18,000 eurobucks for the house + 3 acres of forest.
Less than one year's wage.

Tiny houses are a meme. Anyone who's ever lived in a college dorm knows that you'll go stir crazy in this thing after a year.

The Big Duck is a ferrocement building in the shape of a duck located in Flanders, New York, on Long Island. It was originally built in 1931 by duck farmer Martin Maurer in nearby Riverhead, and used as a shop to sell ducks and duck eggs.

Also pic of the private spring.
Still has lots of work to do - there's no power and no water tank.
I'll get the power installed in a few months (should be around 500€) so I can finally start working on it other than just chainsawing the mess I'm gonna post in a few moments
>>745321918
There's got to be two extra floors in the middle part then?
Also I wouldn't say northern Italy is exactly scorchingly hot in the summer. Especially in the forest like that it's probably just twenty smoething degrees tops plus extreme humidity.
I know similar houses (not your particular one of course) and I wouldn't recommend living in them for more than a few days because of the mold. Also don't put any furniture that could block circulation near the exterior walls.
Also I would happily be wrong about this.
>>745322024

>>745322534
>Also I wouldn't say northern Italy is exactly scorchingly hot in the summer.
Is 42°C + 40% humidity scorching enough for you?
I wanted to kill myself this summer kek.
Although yeah, in the forest it's probably 5-10 less and less humid.
Also no, just ground floor and a top floor. The third row of beams is holding up the top floor ceiling.
And I've been in it and it's not humid inside. Especially if you fire up the wood stove, then it's actually way too dry to be comfortable.
>>745322575
thanks m8
>>745320707
All our furniture is rectangular. None of it will fit efficiently into a round building.
Also, acoustical privacy is an issue.
Domes are good for bulk storage of grain or petroleum or whatever, but there are good reasons why you don't see people living in many of them.
>>745322789
I disagree and since my kitchen and dining room are already grey and the floor is brown I think I'll pass

>>745323025
Yup. In that down angle shot it looks like a long shed to me. Maybe nine meters long and two meters fifty in heigth (up to the rooftop). Seeing it from the side gives a totally different impression.
This summer was exceptionally hot in Italy though. I hope the next one will be more normal again.
>>745322334

>>745323298
>>745323563
Very nice, but the style of bookcases and stairways look inappropriate for the setting.
>>745323467
Interesting, I never noticed the perspective illusion because I already know how big it is.
It's more like 20-25m long with two 2.8m high floors + attic.
The ground floor is slightly dug in though and it's used as storage or for animals, as is traditional with these old buildings.
>This summer was exceptionally hot in Italy though.
Yeah, but even in an average summer 37-38°C are normal in Turin.
Are you Italian as well by any chance? It's not every day you end up discussing weather on 4chan kek.
Sealed off with fences for privacy
>>745323864
Uhhhh... I guess you really like barren concrete?
>>745323792
No, I'm not Italian but I used to got to the Trentino region for vacation some time back.
I don't remember it being that hot but it's a bit to the north east, so what do I know.
Enjoy your actually pretty cool house!
>>745324031
Concrete is nice when new.
The problem is that as soon as it starts weathering it becomes shit.
Naked concrete buildings barely last 20 years before they end up looking like an abandoned Soviet submarine base.
The view from your bedroom must be amazing
>>745321114
This was so great when I was a child and we were on a road trip to my grandma's summer house.
>>745324421
>Naked concrete buildings barely last 20 years before they end up looking like an abandoned Soviet submarine base
I hate architecture that only lasts for a short amount of appreciable time. Century-old buildings should ideally look as good as the day they were built.
>>745324459
The Great Gatsby ?
>>745324031
Its a style of architecture called brutalism and I love it in its most modern form.
>>745324632
>>745324326
Trentino is nearer to the mountains, so I'd imagine it's colder than the rest of Padania.
Also if you were on vacation you were probably in a small village, not in a large city. And the largest city in Trentino is smallish anyway.
Torino and Milano are basically open air ovens in the summer.
Torino in particular is boxed in by mountains on 3 sides and hills on the 4th, so it's very humid in summer and gets very polluted in winter.
Which is one of the main reasons I don't wanna live here forever and I bought the other house.
>Enjoy your actually pretty cool house!
Thanks m8, I will

yeah wait 50 years when homeoffices are becoming popular.
Grab what you can, will be a good pension insurance. if not for you, then at least for your kids.
By the way, you have a nice site where i could check this kind of offers?
would be interested.
>>745321368
bravo ottimo investimento , si presume che tra 6 o 7 anni l'immobiliare crescera' di nuovo.Si spera.
>>745324421
If it's done right and properly looked after concrete can look good for pretty long. It's very important to have a thick enough layer of concrete over the outer most reinforcements though because otherwise the concrete will crack and reveal the reinforcements so they're unprotected from corrosion. And that looks like shit and speeds up the decay.
Otherwise I think Brutalist architecture can look pretty amazing if it's got either enough room to stand out or is integrated into really cool landscaping.
It really doesn't work well in crowded places imho.
>>745320357
I too would like to live in Blight Town
I love these style of old houses. Could use some fresh painting, but i'd want to live here.
>>745325327
Uuuh, that's very nice. Probably costs a lot to maintain but if that isn't a concern absolutely go for it!

>>745324986
>By the way, you have a nice site where i could check this kind of offers?
>would be interested.
Just any old house sale site like immobiliare.it, idealista.it, etc.
Immobiliare.it has a very nice feature where you can draw a shape on Italy's map and it'll only show postings inside that shape.
I usually just drew around the alps because that's what I was interested in.
In the end I found that one on unicase.it though.
What you want to look for are postings marked as "rustico" or "casale" for more mountainous places, or "cascina" for flat lands.
That's just a rough distinction though, you can easily have a rustico in flat land.
Your mileage may vary.
