I don't buy it.

I have a Nintendo Switch, because Nintendo makes the best 1st party games. I don't want to play Weeb Fantasy XIXX, and if I wanted to watch Indiana Jones i'd pop in Raiders instead of Unchated or Tomb Raider.

I'll take Battlefield Pubg Dota Starcraft Kerbal TESO Civ For Honor Rocket League XCOM Counterstrike Ark and all the other AAA shit you get on your boxes.

I could go Intel, i'm just not convinced it's significantly better than Ryzen. Plus I have AAAAAYYYYYY MD stock (to the moon baby) so that helps me justify it. I could be convinced to do an Intel chip, but Ryzen is popular and I like the idea of better multicore processing so I can play games and leave my photoshop or video editing running instead of focusing on one thing at a time.

"2500 monstrosity"
>includes cost of keyboard headphones monitor etc...
You are building a Mid-High end PC. Trying to make yourself feel better by including the cost of accessories doesn't help, considering I would bet you already have those on your current set up and are just attaching them to your "monster PC" so it looks better.

you are anonymous, no one will be impressed. If you want honest tech advice, you also shouldn't be here- but thats a whole nother story.

also you are getting a fucking MONSTER set up like that then getting a fucking 1080p monitor. give me a break. 4k or ultrawide. No in between, otherwise you are wasting that money on your graphics card.

The case, bruh have you ever heard of inconvenient? spending 120 dollars on a case that does nearly none of the things a case should do is fucking stupid.

CPU- RYZEN????? this is a joke right?

Cooling- stick with the air cooling graphics cards. Loops are a pain and are really a meme.

memory- BRUH a monster with out a SSD is barely a decent pc. atleast a boot drive dude

Video card- fuck right out of here with zotac.

power supply- you are spending too much with out the need for that shit.

overpriced meme wireless mouse too. Fuck off yet again.

TL;DR your Monster is shit and should be built again from the ground up

I'm on the fence about the monitors, I can't seem to find a good price on anything 4k with 144hz and 1ms. How important is it to balance those numbers? I could get 4k monitors but at 60hz refresh rate is it still worth it?

>The case, bruh have you ever heard of inconvenient? spending 120 dollars on a case that does nearly none of the things a case should do is fucking stupid.

Be more specific? I like the case, I think it's decent, what functions is it missing out on? It's pretty good for setting up water cooling and i know it's memeish but it's something I want to do.

Already have an SSD. Should have mentioned it but it's not on my purchase list.

>Video card- fuck right out of here with zotac.

Better choices? I know NVDA and EVGA are good but I hear Zotac is one of the best too so I don't know what to believe...

>power supply- you are spending too much with out the need for that shit.

its $109. That's basically the cheapest part of the build and with watercooling it'd bump up the power demand a bit. I want to be able to upgrade parts as I go and if I can keep the same PSU a few years longer then that's a bonus.

>overpriced meme wireless mouse too. Fuck off yet again.

You generally wont notice a performance increase between high end AMD and Intel CPUs, so it really comes down to what you want to use.

From what I've heard, developers are trying to push multicore in games a lot harder now, so the extra physical cores from a Threadripper will do you good for its price.
Or you can spend the extra 500USD and get an i9 for the same performance and a +2 to epeen.
>>
Didn't read but, if you're planning to buy the parts with time ij between them, don't. Just get the whole money and buy it once so you have chance to maybe get better parts for the same price

Decent human being alert.

Ok- lets revise this. 4k and 144 hz should be top priority. A high refresh rate makes High FPS that much more satisfying and the Resolution on a 4k monitor is something that has to be experienced to understand its value.
as for response time? its not as big a deal as you think. Ping fluctuations alone would mitigate this "selling point" if it saves you the bucks go up to 10ms response time. Its literally unnoticeable even for competitive.

Cases prevent dust from regularly flying through core pc components. a pc with open walls and no primary filters is just asking for buildup INSIDE of your components. Im not saying a normal case would totaly prevent this , but it helps. Also the design of that case would show off ever spec of builtup GPU dust.
also it does little for protection, not that protection is important if you are careful

Intel is great, and I had the worst luck with them initially so their long term performance was phenomenal enough to outshine the fact i got 2 that were duds on unpack aging. legitimately any CPU that is near current Gen will NEVER bottle neck your GPU while gaming. Hell even a high end i5 could probably chooch along at a high enough tick for some of the best (single) graphics cards today.

Memory- I see you have this handled, enjoy your kinky porn.

Video card- tbh I just have a stigma for zotac because they fucked a friend of mine over on a build a few years back. Horrible return policy, silicon lottery seems to be rigged when you order from them, and some minor costumer service complaints.

Power supply- if you can get a high end Supply for that price, i dont know what the fuck I would complain about.

mouse- DONT GET RAZER. that is all.
>>
>>745190237
>You generally wont notice a performance increase between high end AMD and Intel CPUs, so it really comes down to what you want to use.

Exactly... The AMD/Intel fanboy schism is cancer. They're literally the same fucking thing just differently assembled. It's not like one or the other is literally going to make a big difference if they're the same general tier.

>Ok- lets revise this. 4k and 144 hz should be top priority...

Cool thanks, I had the importance pretty much 100% backward. I wanted 1ms 144hz and maybe 4k. Gonna change that to 4k and 144 definitely. Thanks!

>Cases prevent dust...

Right, I anticipate that so I'm gonna get a dust vacuum, from the reviews I've read people typically believe they accumulate less dust than closed boxes, or at least that the difference isn't big either way, and my house is very clean, no pets, no smoke, vacuum weekly. Airflow is worse, but i'm planning to watercool the CPU and GPU and maybe even the Memory since i've heard good results.

>Intel is great, and I had the worst luck with them initially...

Yeah I just want to help the company i've invested in. I've made a good deal of money from buying in at $3.00 so every dollar AYYMD makes is another dollar I make. And the differences aside from fanboyism are negligible.

>Memory- I see you have this handled, enjoy your kinky porn.

Lol? I like the RGB, is Corsair Vengeance a meme for something? I'm going to be moving from a 2011 macbook pro to pcmasterrace so i'm out of the loop hard.

>Video card- tbh I just have a stigma for zotac because they fucked a friend of mine over on a build a few years back. Horrible return policy, silicon lottery seems to be rigged when you order from them, and some minor costumer service complaints.

Wired optical mice have the lowest response time, if i'm gaming and anything lag that ruins my kills i'm liable to throw a wireless mouse through the monitor. Totally kidding, but I just want the lowest delay between action and response as possible.

>Swap out the Ryzen and go for an Intel. Maybe swap out headphones for Cloud II's. That RAM is expensive, get cheaper RAM and a higher amount of it if possible. H270 motherboard. Other than that, looks good OP.

Why H270 mobo? The one I picked has RGB which is one of the reasons I picked it tbh.

The headphones are RGB, so is the RAM. I want muh colors so I can go with a theme. Not sure what colors, I like navy, crimson, gold, and black so i'm not sure what I want to do yet, I just want everything that CAN light up get lit up.
>>
>>745191289
Headset is firm unless you can recommend another RGB capable headset. Power > response time > aesthetics > everything else. I'm not much of an audiophile, i'll probably end up with external sound system and just headset for voice anyway.
>>
>>745191725
Either an H170 (updated bios) or H270 mobo is required for Intel's latest processors. Can't have Intel without it.

This is a very high end example of a motherboard and should be used for your comparisons.

No. 1080ti is somewhat nerfed by the cpu and current amd platform. You get better performance with intel/nvidea and if you go ryzen go vega. That way you can use freesync monitors which are cheaper than gsync. Plus sometimes i get some weird lag issues with the card with the amd platform. I fell for the meme and got the cpu on release for $500 eh fuck it.

Not seeing anything shocking here. I know the benchmarks and i've seen a lot of contradictory evidence. Consensus is Intel 7700 is a "little" better than Ryzen 1700, but I don't only use it for gaming and the 8 core aspect interests me quite a bit. I'm not sold either way but from what i've seen the AMD/Intel fight is totally just fanboyism.

>>
>>745195731
>4K 1ms or nothing bruh.
I'm focusing on 4k and 144hz atm. Other advise suggested the 1ms wasn't as important. I had the numbers backwards, I was making sure I had 1ms 144hz and there's not much 4k in that option without breaking out over $1000. I think I can find a reasonable 4k 144hz with 1ms-15ms without going over $1000

Some things to note
RGB ram is a total meme. Overpriced as fuck over the already high prices ram is getting
Water-cooling is truly a meme too
Overclocking isn't even good anyways, you just shorten your cpus lifespan and even then a good air cooler will do just as good
Gpus need no water-cooling whatsoever
Get a phanteks enthoo evolv, better for that price
For the mouse I can't recommend anything over the g502. At least for me it was flawless

Wasn't planning to tbh...

>Gpus need no water-cooling whatsoever

I'm aware, but aesthetics, and i've seen benchmarks with and without cooled GPU and even cooled RAM and there's a difference, so I figure if i'm already throwing around 3k might as well do it big.

>>
>>745187532
The main thing I would suggest is that instead of a 1080p 144hz or a 4k 60hz is to go for a 1440p 144hz. You are getting improved visuals that arent as good as 4k but keeping the 144hz is almost a must for gaming. The rest is solid although i do agree that if you are getting a 1080ti you should get one that looks better imo, I would say the Asus Strix and EVGA FTW 3.0 cards look better but its up to you. And also if you want to keep the rgb ram take a look at the gskill trident z rgb because to me its the coolest looking rgb. I believe the trident z kit does worth with Aura sync which is an Asus feature so if you get a nice Asus Mobo with the 1080ti strix and the trident z ram it would look dope.
>>
>>745187671

>>745199434

Install is like 1/2 the fun for this project, RGB and water-cooling is all aesthetics which are important to me for this build, so we just have different tastes.

I might overclock it once I settle in but i'm not planning to. The water-cooling is again aesthetics but also I hate the idea of a hot pc. I want it SILENT and cool and comfy.

AYYYYYYYYY MD BABY!

I bought in at $3 and have made a 400% gain on my original investment. I've basically just taken my gains and reinvested at 12 selling off at 13 and i've made good money doing that. Might as well thank them with a purchase.

Looks good op. If you want you could go with the Ryzen 1700 (non x) and use the ~30$ on maybe some other perifs or something. The only thing the X version does is giving you a higher base clock speed. Also why go with such a nice build without wanting to CPU overclock? Ryzen 7 with a nice overclock is going to underperform an intel 7700k but not by a lot. Also if you are going to be doing a custom loop then it is definitely worth OCing the CPU.
>>
>>745188890
this.
pc components are ridiculously overpriced and developers don't give a shit about producing playable content for pc anymore, so you have to splurg on far farrrr too overpriced gimmics to get anything playable, for a year until "updates" break the games or render their performance as sub par.
with the money saved you can get a better pair of speakers and better t.v/monitor, which at the end of the day makes shit far more fun to watch/play on than stupid overpriced loud as fuck computers

I'm new to PC's, I've been on a mac since 2011 and i'm ready to actually play games for once, so I'm dipping my toe in. The watercooling is more for silence and the health and longevity of the parts. I'm considering overclocking but I want to see how it does without it first. If there's no need there's no need.
>>
As for the PSU
Using a Powersupply with too much room above you maximum usage will drive up your electricy bill since a PSU needs a certain load to be efficient.
>>
>>745201374
Hey buddy, justify your inability to spend 2000 on anything because of your minimum wage job however you want. But if you ever start making real money, you'll probably want to play the widest variety of games with the best graphics possible. I enjoyed video game consoles when I was 12 years old, but now i'm an adult so i can afford high end gaming and i'm not looking back.

I keep a Nintendo Switch since Nintendo has the best first party exclusives. I'll never not buy Nintendo shit, but if i want a new cod or battlefield or any AAA game it'll always be on xbox playstation and computer.
>>
>>745201688
Ah I understand what you mean but as far as the longevity of your CPU, as long as youre not pushing your CPU to its absolute max for a long time then youll be fine. Most people that like to OC their Ryzen CPUs push it the 4.0ghz but even an OC to like 3.6 will give you some nice extra performance without being detrimental to CPU. You have to remember that CPUs are made to be as stable as possible at higher temps but sometimes Ryzen can be a bit "ify" while OC. I still think that if you are going with Ryzen and an OC capable Mobo then you should definitely do it.

Ah thanks, I didn't consider that... I just want to make sure that when I add pumps it can still handle it. pcpartpicker puts it just under 500w right now. I'm assuming if the computer demand spikes to ~500w and my psu is 400w it either shorts out or is very bad for the parts right?

Huge joke right here, bitcoin is going to crash. This is the big one. 4k for a coin is overvalued and China/US banks are going to crack down on their losses, the bubble has started to pop my friend sell while you can.

- this isn't to say it's all over, cryptocurrency will always have a place but I don't need to buy drugs on the internet and my usd is more secure and can be used easier than a btc
>>
>>745202312
>Ofcourse said computer is a monster money pit.

Which isn't a problem if you actually have money and don't work a minimum wage job like anyone who owns a console.
>>
>>745202325
Efficiency for a PSU is on a bell curve where the top of the curve rests between 60-80% usage of the Watts the psu can put out. If you have an 850W PSU and the components are putting out around 500Ws than you are in a good zone. And just because you have an 800W psu doesnt mean its using 800 watts, it just means it CAN use that much. So if you had a PC that produces 400Ws of power, a 450W psu vs a 850W psu wont make a difference on your power bill.

My current laptop can play all the AAA games that xbox one and ps4 have at similar graphics levels. And I got it back in 2011 and only upgraded 3 parts. Your boxes are good for budget video gaming with average graphics. I want 4k gaming with high detail, xbox one and ps4 might advertise their ability to play 4k, 4k on a pc vs 4k on a console isn't even a comparison. If you've only ever played console and have literally never even seen a high end pc playing a game the comparison is night and day. It's like going from using a screwdriver to drive a screw to a drill. You haven't seen it in person if you don't think there's a difference.

Compare any ps4 and xbox one live gameplay to any high end pc gameplay and the difference is obvious. I don't want to go from an old laptop low graphics to slightly better xbox and ps4 graphics. This is one of the worst builds I've seen in awhile, you need to do some research anon...

>CPU
Ryzen is shit if you're not doing content creation. Get an i5/i7 instead.

>CPU cooler
You can get a corsair H100i for $100 less and get the exact same performance.

>Motherboard
Gigabytes bretty good.

>Memory
Don't bother with anything over 2400mhz, Ryzen chips just shit themselves and get horribly unstable with high speed RAM. It's why they suck dicks for gaming.

>Storage
Get an SSD you fuck, and get rid of that seagate garbage. Toshiba, Mushkin, WD, HGST, there are no other HDD brands to consider.

>GPU
Massively overkill with your monitor choice. 1080 Ti is for 4k gaming. If you're not going 4k don't buy a 1080 Ti. I have 3, two in my main PC one in my living room PC. 1080 Ti crushes EVERY game at 1440p 144fps, a single one. You do not need that for 1080p, period. Get a 1070 or buy a better monitor.

>Case
I have two of the core series cases, theyre fucking great.

>PSU
Overkill, you can run that all off a 650w.

>Monitor
It's shit.

>Keyboard
Bretty good, mostly preference choice on that anyways

>Mouse
Do NOT buy asus peripherals, they are shit, the company has shit support / exchanges.

>Headphones
Literal trash can tier. If you're building this good of a rig do yourself a favor and don't shit up your vidya experience with inferior displays and audio. Drop the 1080 ti down to a 1070 and move some of your budget to those two factors.

I could shit on Ryzen based off the benchmarks and whatnot, but frankly i've never even used one so I don't really know what i'd be talking about in all honestly. I want to try it so I can compare the two. The differences are not that great anyway.
