i brought up circumcision with my husband for a future, hypothetical son. i would prefer to give our son the chance to choose when he gets older, for several reasons: it would be terrible to have him circumcised and then later learn that he was not happy having that choice made for him; there are a lot of nerves in the foreskin, and i would not want him to have lost sensitivity when he's old enough to have sex; the possibility of a botched circumcision, not to mention that baby boys aren't given any kind of anesthetic for this procedure (i've seen videos, and they are clearly in pain -- so cruel!); finally, and of a lesser concern, i roughly equate it with female genital mutilation.

my husband, however, feels very strongly that he would want his son to be circumcised so that the boy would feel normal, and not embarrassed of having a foreskin since many american males do not. but i kinda figure -- at that point, he would be able to choose whether or not to have the procedure done?
