Why would you not just settle on a repayment plan? I'm sure if you just explained to the court that you're only able to contribute maybe £200 a month to repayment and have expenses and budgets to back that up, they'd probably let you pay it back over time (like 6 months).

No one is stupid enough to sue for more than the defendant can possibly pay if they expect to get that much.
