Generally unless you know the grower or the strain you have I would just base it off of how you feel, usually a sativa gets me creative and energetic, and a good indica will have me indicouch hungry as fuck and tired

Personally i prefer bong also, but i got the feeling like vaping gives you a cleaner high. Imagine ripping the bong, but not fully burning the bowl, only burn like two thirds so leave away the "coal"-like residue.
That's how it feels to vape. I got the feeling, that the last third, independent of the strain enhances the lethargic body feel
